First time NCL

Recommended Posts

We are looking at going on our first cruise with NCL in March next year to the Med from Barcelona and have a few questions we hope someone can answer.

We are making our own way to Barcelona. How early can we embark on the ship as we will have an early arrival flight and would like drop our bags and possibly do a little sightseeing before sailing.

We will be sailing on the Spirit, can anyone recommend good Balcony cabins and best deck to book?

Have read that you can pre book Shows, do you have to pay and how much?

Thanks in advance

Julie

We usually arrive at the port by taxi from the airport (£35Euro) and get there around 11AM. The porters are there and willing to take the bags away to go to the ship. At this point you could check in but boarding may not start until noon and you will not be able to drop your carry on bags before then. The port area is a long way from the bottom of the Ramblas, about 30 mins walk as you have to go around a lot to get there. It may be possible to get the porters to take the bags much earlier say after 9.30AM when those people leaving are gone, but I really don't know. I usually fly around 7.30 from Heathrow as that flight arrives BCN around 10-15 and it works for the way we like to do things.

I prefer to get a cabin on Deck 10 as there are only cabins above and below so noise is generally minimal. Deck11 can have noise from the things above it. Usually we like to be mid ship but have found being towards either end is OK. Nothing ever seems far away or difficult to get to on the Spirit

There are no shows on the Spirit that have a charge and there is no need to prebook anything at all.

Have a great trip, you will love the ship, it's crew and the itinerary

I am on the Spirit from Barcelona in just over 3 weeks. I have booked balcony cabin 9502 (2nd from the front) Don't suffer from sea sickness so hope it will be ok.

Should be fine at this time of year as the seas are not too excited. We sailed in Feb this year to the Canaries and the N. Atlantic was not great, my sister was unwell until the meds I gave her kicked in. I had already taken mine...

Never needed them on the Mediteranean run.
