Hertz Car Rental from Port Everglades

Hello everyone,

I have done my research everywhere on this board for this question, but all of the information I have found is all out of date (ranging from 2005 - 2011) and I need a recent experience.

We are booked on the Allure and we're set to get back to Ft. Lauderdale on Sunday November 17. We have to catch a flight out of FLL at 7:15, so we have a full day to our leisure. We've decided that renting a car is the cheapest way to store our luggage and visit Sawgrass Mills. I have looked into all the car rental companies, but Hertz seemed to be the best option.

I have reserved a car from the Hertz at 455 Southeast 24th Street, State Road 84 for the day, and am going to drop it off at FLL. Has anyone used Hertz/this location recently? Is there a shuttle from the cruise port to the Hertz location? How far is the shuttle from the cruise port? If there is no shuttle, how much is the cab ride from the port to the rental location? Also, since we are picking up at one location, and dropping it off at another (the airport to be exact), is there going to be an extra charge?

I appreciate all your help! Thanks so much.

I second that! I have seen posters go back and forth about whether or not a shuttle is available. Call the actual branch as the folks at the 1-800 won't have a clue.

My guess for a taxi would be $10.:D

When you reserved the car, did you enter the drop off as FLL Airport? If so, then the additional charge for the drop off would be noted in your quote, if there is one.

Hertz has detailed info now on this location on their website.

http://www.hertz.com/rentacar/location/FLLP24

This location is in the Crown Plaza Hotel.

They use a van and it runs every 20-25 minutes. You stand in line in a open area and wait for the next pick-up. They biggest problem is that they use a standard van and it only seats 7 passengers or so...

Taxis are easy to get and might save you from waiting.

When I disembarked from Oasis last month, only Alamo had a set stop and always had a large bus waiting to their airport location. You had to show a Alamo or National reservation to board.

The other companies have to park and then come to collect passengers from this line. Some had been waiting over an hour when I came out and walked right on the Alamo bus. (guess 30 passenger bus)

Avis and Budget have closer locations and do use a larger van for maybe 15 passengers or so....

The location you've chosen is actually the lobby of the Crown Plaza Hotel. You could also look at renting your car from Hertz's Airport location. The port is very close by to the airport and you'd be heading to almost the same location to drop off. You may also get a wider selection of cars at the Airport location.
