Upgrading to Premium

Questions...

Can you upgrade to premium on the ship if you got 1-2-3 classic package?

How much does it cost to upgrade?

Can you upgrade on an individual basis or do both in the cabin have to upgrade?

Thanks

Barb

If you have the package included in your booking you cannot up grade before you sail, only when you get on board - I personally spoke to celebrity last week on the subject. One of you can up grade or both - as you wish.:)

This seems to be only true for UK. We live in US, and have upgraded and know a lot of others who have also.

We upgraded our cruises starting next week. Just a telephone call, credit card number, instant receipt by email, booking info upgraded.

Was told by a Celebrity rep yesterday that we can upgrade before the cruise date until 4 days of sailing. We would be charged the reduced rate and both of us don't have to upgrade. We would be charged on our credit card and it would not be part of our on board folio, that eliminates using SBC to pay for the upgrade. If we upgraded on board we would have to pay the higher price differential but could use SBC if we have any.

I will upgrade prior to sailing as it all goes on the same credit card and it will save me a few dollars.

On the other thread, people in the UK posted that they were able to upgrade with no problem. When you call you have to ask to be connected to the "Enhancement" department and they will process the upgrade for you. The first rep you talk to will not be able to do the upgrade.

Hi, I'm from Austria and was explicitly told earlier this year that upgrading for Europeans from Classic to Premium was only possible onboard (we have the 1, 2, 3 promo). When I found out about the raise in prices for onboard bookings earlier this week, I emailed my celebrity contact person. No answer in 4 days. I tried to call them today in the early afternoon and got the message that I called outside office hours (although being well inside the time frame of those mentioned office hours).

I called the US service hotline I found mentioned on another thread (enhancement department?) next and had my upgrade plus email confirmation in less than 5 minutes. They also fixed another problem just as fast (my partner's booking didn't show his free drink package online).

So my advise for any European customers would be to call the US hotline straight away if you want to upgrade before starting your cruise! :-)

Any chance you can post the telephone number on this thread as we are encountering the same advice: can only upgrade on board. :(

For those in the UK the phone number is: 08444 936207, option 2. I spoke to a very nice lady called Dorothy. :)

Hi,

No need to apologize. That is a good question. Who cares if there is a thread on it. There is a thread to almost every issue. Ask away! Bill

I have been following this and other threads on upgrading the drink package. We recently booked our first Celebrity cruise. We booked during the current pick-your-perk promotion and chose the Classic Beverage package with the thought of upgrading it to premium at some point. I originally booked the lowest category balcony cabin, but then started reading about and considering a Concierge cabin. The difference in price was $175 per person for our sailing next year. However, I learned that a Concierge cabin also qualified for the Premium drink package under the current promo. So, for a liitle more than the cost to upgrade the drink package we upgraded to a Concierge cabin and selected the premium drink package as our perk. I think this was a great deal.

Where was the promo for this? Didn't know that if you booked a CC or better you would get the premium instead of the classic package.

I saw one of the major TAs advertise this. If you booked with them CC or Higher you got the premium package. I understood that you get classic from Celebrity and TA paid the upgrade as a perk from them.

Thanks for the reply. The one that I use gives gratuities but I have found that it depends on the price paid and not the cabin category. There was a senior special that reduced the cost of a AQ on a 14 day cruise by $400 but I would have a lost the gratuities and bev pack.

Wow, that would have been nice. On a related note, we are a few days away from final payment and I was planning to call and upgrade our Classic to Premium when I noticed that the Classic was not showing up on our booking on the Celebrity site. I emailed our TA, but in general, is this something I need to call Celebrity for, or should the TA handle it?
