clean1owner Posted October 4, 2013 #1 Share Posted October 4, 2013 The Wife and I are looking at sailing the Liberty in February. We found 2 hump cabins available; 6646-Port side last hump cabin aft 6342-Starboard side 1st cabin aft of the 2 center hump cabins I have read comments about some hump cabins being better than others because of their location on the hump, or balcony situations. So I am asking; What would be the pros / cons of these two cabins? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
believer33323 Posted October 4, 2013 #2 Share Posted October 4, 2013 Pros: We stayed on 2 different ships with a cabin on the hump. Both times the position was on the angled portion facing forward. Great view forward and larger than normal balcony. Cons: None that I know of. 6342 as far as the view may be better the 6646 will be facing the aft. Not sure about the balcony size though. deck plan is not very good. Personally and I know you did not ask this,But for caribbean 4-5 dayer I would save the money and go with an inside cabin. I personally love them. and we stayed in most (except for suites) they are quiet, dark with the lights out for sleeping and most time you not in the room anyway. If it's a quick cruise you're looking for give it a try.
SECdawg Posted October 4, 2013 #3 Share Posted October 4, 2013 We had a hump cabin last March on Liberty. We loved the location and size. Ours was on the forward side of the hump and the only negative was the wind. Of course that may have been just on our cruise since it was really windy on the upper decks on days at sea. justforkicks Posted October 4, 2013 #4 Share Posted October 4, 2013 and loved it. I don't think the size of 6646 balcony is different
Clarea Posted October 4, 2013 #5 Share Posted October 4, 2013 I think either stateroom would be fine, and give a slight preference to 6342 for being closer to center hump.
cb at sea Posted October 4, 2013 #6 Share Posted October 4, 2013 No pro or con to either! Both will be very convenient...and that's the major reason folks love hump cabins!
clean1owner Posted October 4, 2013 Author #7 Share Posted October 4, 2013 Thank you everyone for your input! If wind is an issue, we will probably go with the port aft-hump cabin, as the wife doesn't like the wind blowing in her face. Pros: We stayed on 2 different ships with a cabin on the hump. Both times the position was on the angled portion facing forward. Great view forward and larger than normal balcony. Cons: None that I know of. 6342 as far as the view may be better the 6646 will be facing the aft. Not sure about the balcony size though. deck plan is not very good. If it's a quick cruise you're looking for give it a try. That would normally be our thoughts also, but we are redeeming points for a free trip, and they are only good for an outside cabin. Port fees and taxes are $150, and for another $75 we can upgrade to a balcony, so we just figured "what the heck? Let's do it."
Ladysilver Posted October 5, 2013 #8 Share Posted October 5, 2013 We had the last hump cabin on the starboard side of the Mariner (6328) and LOVED it! The wind was blocked so it was very nice to sit out there and read. Also, the balcony seemed bigger and had 3 chairs. Nice, since there was 3 of us! :D
