jaydeezee_44 Posted October 5, 2013 #1 Share Posted October 5, 2013 hello everyone, we are going on a western caribbean cruise on oct 27-nov 3 using Freedom of the Seas. there will be7 of us in this group consisting of 2 grandmas, me and my wife and the 3 kids (9, 4 & 1). any recommended shore excursions at Haiti, Jamaica, Grand Cayman and Cozumel. me and my wife can always have our parents babysit the kids but it will be much better if all of us can join the excursion unless it really worth it for just the two of us. thanks. flyawayca Posted October 5, 2013 #2 Share Posted October 5, 2013 In Haiti it's really more of a beach thing. Go swim, have a drink at the bar, and relax :) In Jamaica I just did the Swamp Safari Village and loved it. In Cozumel I went to Chankanaab National Park. I also recommend this. Especially for large group. You can check out my review of all three in my review here: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1921794 The reviews of those three excursions start on page 6 :D
DonnaK Posted October 5, 2013 #3 Share Posted October 5, 2013 Well, I wouldn't book any excursion on Labadee. It's a beautiful private beach; my favorite port in the Caribbean! Find lounge chairs in the sun or shade, whichever you prefer, on Nellie's Beach or Columbus Cove, where the sand is nice and the water is perfect for swimming. Barbecue on the beach is provided by the ship.

In Cozumel you might want to book Passion Island (by the tour boat one , not the twister). This place is lovely and should suit everyone. :) LuLu ~~~~
TheGaDawgFan Posted October 5, 2013 #5 Share Posted October 5, 2013 While I can't recommend it personally, check out the review of Time N Place on the Jamaica excursions section. It looks great for all ages. Here's the link. http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1884765

I would think that this would work well for a multi-generational family visit. :)

Nachi Cocem is booked directly with the resort: http://www.cozumelnachicocom.com/ No shuttle services. We took a taxi which I think was about $20 total for the 4 of us, one-way. Yiou just tell the taxi driver when you want to come back, and they will be waiting for you.

There is a line of taxis right outside the entrance to the terminal area. There is also a sign there with posted taxi fares.

We have done the kayak adventure in Labadee, Haiti. Its great; a local takes the tour and gives you a history of the island and how RCI came to own part of the land. Plenty of time to swim in the beautiful sea afterwards too xx
