Cashew14 Posted October 7, 2013 #2 Share Posted October 7, 2013 I have family going to the Big Island for 8 days in November... can you recommend any good restaurants? Thanks. We went to the Hau Tree Lanai restaurant at the New Otani Kaimana Beach Hotel last year and enjoyed it. It is right at the beach but slightly away from the main tourist area. Andrea :) P.S. Sorry, I just realised that it was on Oahu we went to this restaurant.

Rare cr8tiv1 Posted October 7, 2013 #4 Share Posted October 7, 2013 Nori's in Hilo (Japanese) Manago Inn/pork chops (near Captain Cook/Kona side) Check out Elua's Facebook page. Dave lives in Hilo and has found some ono grindz. I wasn't impressed by the Malasadas place along the Hamakua Drive (Jacks? Teds?) slidergirl Posted October 7, 2013 #5 Share Posted October 7, 2013 Definitely Cafe Pesto! Always love the seafood risotto!!! Also up there in Kawaihae is The Seafood Bar & Grill. The one thing I always remember from there was the spicy edamame appetizer. Go up to Kamuela/Waimea for a high-end dinner at Merriman's. Yep, it's expensive, but it was soooo good. cccole Posted October 7, 2013 #6 Share Posted October 7, 2013 When we stayed at the Marriott Waikoloa last year we loved the Lava, Lava Beach Club just down the beach. Cherie

Addict Cruiser Posted October 22, 2013 #9 Share Posted October 22, 2013 One other suggestion is Hawaiian Style Café located in Hilo and Waimea. HUGE breakfast and great local food. Open for breakfast and lunch.

puddles99 Posted October 27, 2013 #12 Share Posted October 27, 2013 We didn't eat ashore much on the Big Island, but I'd suggest taking the tour and having a meal at the Kona Brewing Company (http://konabrewingco.com/) - the food was really good and I will never be able to order a Hawaiian Pizza on the mainland again. They ruined me. :D
