Elaine515 Posted October 8, 2013 #1 Share Posted October 8, 2013 Has anyone ever been wait-listed for a Cabana Rental on HMC and gotten it? How did you get wait-listed and how were you notified that one became available? I'm checking all the time to see if one becomes available but not sure how good my chances are.. Of course, I'll go right to the Excursions Desk once we board to check but wanted other suggestions or past expereince. Thanks
Capette Posted October 8, 2013 #2 Share Posted October 8, 2013 We received the email notifying that we were on the "wait list". We got on as early as we could and went right to the excursion desk. Voila! One was availalble. Good luck!
valandemmy Posted October 8, 2013 #3 Share Posted October 8, 2013 I know it is a lot more expensive, but you may consider one of the two story cabanas that are available.
timhoke Posted October 8, 2013 #4 Share Posted October 8, 2013 Never been wait listed before, we have rented both the 2 story Villas & the private oasis. Both were well worth the money. It is really nice to have nice chairs a clean private bathroom & your own spa, shade to get out of the sun.
*Luv2Cruz* Posted October 8, 2013 #5 Share Posted October 8, 2013 We just cancelled 2 with roll call friends for our cruise next week and booked a villa so yes, they do come available and of course, we told our roll call as others were interested and I wasn't aware there was a waitlist. Learned something new today! Had the Oasis on my previous visit! Hope it works out well for all of you!:D

So, you got an email about being on the wait list but never a follow to that? Sounds like you were just lucky that you got the one available and they weren't/didn't inform you of it prior to your cruise.. :( Well that stinks
lola61 Posted October 8, 2013 #7 Share Posted October 8, 2013 We were wait listed, and received tickets on board that one was available, turned it down and got a clam shell for much much less and had just as much fun.
KPfromCT Posted October 8, 2013 #8 Share Posted October 8, 2013 I really hope one opens up for you. We waited, and waited, and then waited some MORE for our Pride cruise in April of 2012, and nothing!:mad: And I was equally determined about the FTTF for our Breeze cruise this past April, and you guessed it........NOTHING:mad::mad: If I didn't have bad luck, I'd have no luck at all..... Wishing you the BEST of luck!!!!!!:D
Hockey Addict Posted October 8, 2013 #9 Share Posted October 8, 2013 Our cruise in May was "sold out" at 2 months before we sailed when we booked it. Once onboard, around noon-ish we went to the shore excursion desk to look what we might want to do instead. I said to her that I wished the cabanas weren't all taken. She said they weren't and we could get one. There were only 3 marked as taken already. I assumed not everyone went to the desk and chose which one they wanted. So we picked one and signed up for it. Maybe you will be lucky too!

I went straight to excursion desk and asked to be put on it once on board. I was notified the next day that I got one. I had to pick the lower number ones which wasn't a good thing but at least I got one.
Capette Posted October 9, 2013 #11 Share Posted October 9, 2013 It's a longer story. I thought I had booked. Computer problems. Days later saw that it wasn't in my invoice. Emailed Carnival. Told sold out but we would be on a 'wait list', and to go to excursion desk as soon as we boarded. We had FTTF so we were on super early. I even think we might have been the first ones at the desk. I was told on this board that they always hold a Cabana or two back for prizes for contests etc. So maybe I got one of those. I had my emails and computer print out pages to show how I screwed up. We were lucky. We had been there before so we knew the awesomeness of the cabana. Good luck!
Elaine515 Posted October 9, 2013 Author #12 Share Posted October 9, 2013 Thanks all.. I'll keep checking to see if one opens, but definitely will be one of the first to the Excursion Desk once I board.. Having had a Cabana prior, I agree it is the best and having Mom with me we need one as she is unable to walk on the sand and definitely cannot get into a clamshell :(
mudman1234 Posted October 9, 2013 #13 Share Posted October 9, 2013 Help me understand what is the allure of having a cabana at HMC? Having never been there I really want to know why so many find it a must do. I just can't wrap my head around $229 for the cost for a few snacks when there is a inclusive BBQ offered. I'm going to be there in Mid-April is it the heat everyone wants to get away from-or-are chairs and shade that hard to come by? I can still book one so I'm trying to figure out if it's something I'll regret not doing. Thanks!

It also comes with four nice floating mats ($15 x 4 = $60 value), 4 sets of snorkeling gear ($15? x 4 = $60 value), a misting fan, your own outdoor shower, two 'upgraded' loungers, shuttle transportation to/from (nice for those with minor mobility issues), etc. And of course, priority tendering. For us personally, Mom uses an electric scooter and cannot walk on the sand or get up and down on a towel or into the ClamShell.. If we don't get a Cabana, she will probably stay on the ship. Plus, she will be able to enjoy the beach without actually being on it. To me that is definitely worth the $229. Last time we were there, DH fell asleep on the couch in the air conditioning and I luved sitting on the porch with the misting fan cooling me off... Is it necessary for everyone? I dont think so but then each person has their own reason for booking/wanting one... HMC is gorgeous with or without a Cabana for anyone who can walk/run/not have a problem sitting on the beach etc... Not so much for someone with limited mobility... Thanks! on top of all the great reasons already posted, I like to have a place to keep my stuff, reasonably safe and out of the sand. to me ..... you cant put a price on that. mudman1234 Posted October 10, 2013 #17 Share Posted October 10, 2013 Thanks everyone! I really do appreciate all your responses. Are chairs hard to come by for those who have either chosen not to get a cabana or haven't been able to rent one because they've been sold out. Chairs are usually very easy to get, its the ClamShells that "sell" out quickly...
Elaine515 Posted October 10, 2013 Author #19 Share Posted October 10, 2013 Got this email from Excursions... Not quite sure what "Based on the waiting list ..... but regardless, I'll keep checking to see if one opens on line and if not, will be first to the Excursions Desk once onboard!!! :) Good day, Thanks for contacting Tour Operations with your inquiry. If the spot opens it will then be available to sell on board only. Based on the waiting list the cabanas will be sold. You are first on the wait list hence you do not have to worry We look forward to having you on board with us and wish you a Happy Sailing!
