Honeymooner Overboard on the Brilliance

Recommended Posts

From today's New York Post:

HONEYMOONER VANISHES ON CRUISE

A Greenwich, Conn., man on a honeymoon cruise is missing and is feared to have fallen off a cruise ship in the Mediterranean.

George Smith had recently married and took the trip with his new bride, one of his cousins told The Greenwich Time newspaper.

According to Michael Sheehan, a spokesman for Royal Caribbean International, the ship, Brilliance of the Seas, was on a 12-night cruise.

When it docked at Kusadasi Island in the Aegean region of Turkey on July 5, cruise officials learned that one of the passengers was missing, Sheehan said.

"There was indication that the individual may have fallen off board," he said.

Sheehan said the ship left late last month from Barcelona, Spain, and had been halfway through its cruise.

Smith, whose parents own Cos Cob Liquors in one of Connecticut's ritziest communities, planned to take over the business from his father in the near future. AP

OMG!! What would you do if that happened to you.

How very sad. I used to live in Stamford, CT right on the Greenwich line and went to Cos Cob Liquors quite often. My heart goes out to this family.

How in the world can someone "fall" overboard off a cruise ship? The railing is pretty high (with my DH being 5'11"). I couldn't see him "falling" overboard, unless he climed up the railing and then jumped over.

There is another thread covering this incident a little way down the page.

The story is starting to get murky.
