Drink Package Experiences...

Recommended Posts

I am not looking for answers to questions about whats covered and etc...if you have those questions go to the Royal website and look up the details.

What I want to know is everyone's experiences of GETTING the drink package.

Did you "break even"?

Did you try things you wouldn't normally have because it's "paid" for?

Were you "buzzed" the entire time?

Will you get it again?

Just looking for reviews on those who have gotten it.

I cruise on the EOS on Sunday and am still on the fence.

I never had it on RCL but I did have the premium package on Celebrity. Hope this helps.

  • Did you "break even"? Not sure. If I didn't, I sure came close.
  • Did you try things you wouldn't normally have because it's "paid" for? Yes, most definitely.
  • Were you "buzzed" the entire time? No
  • Will you get it again? Yes

We did purchase the premium on RCCL last February and I report "ditto" to all of the above!;) Did not worry about how much we were or weren't drinking and had a worry-free vacation! Found my favorite bartender, who would always "shake" my spicy Bloody Mary's! Tipped him extra for that! Yumm!:p DH tried every bourbon and tequila they had!

Returned from my 1st cruise a 12 day med on iOS last Thursday me and my other half both had the drinks package I am sure it was worth it I think we probably broke even by what we drank around the pool by day and it was a port intensive cruise, I tried everything on the menu at least once and I wasn't worried if I didn't like something as I could order something else. I was only drunk one night due to nerves surrounding being the runner at quest night and drinking my wine to quickly.

We have booked a transatlantic for next year and yes we will defo be booking the drinks package. Xx

Only drink PKG on RCCL was soda pkg or COKE pkg.

Did take the Premium on Celebrity because my wife had the Non Alcohol pkg which we both TOTALY enjoyed. On RCCL I would not get the PKG because I would have to buy it for my wife and she would not use it. Now twenty years ago she would have enjoyed it to the MAX. But not as active as we use to be. Sal please take it easy on us the next Halloween trip.:D Big Kiss love ya!

Myself and 4 friends bought the package on a 7 day western carib cruise in the spring. We all easily drank our money's worth. No, we weren't buzzed the entire time and never actually drunk. We are cruising again this spring and all are definitely purchasing it again.

Yes, we tried new drinks that we would have been afraid to waste money on in the event we did not like them.

We are all between 44-52.

Do they have them on Liberty and, if I buy a premium drink package, is it included? Might be fun to order a shot of vodka and then experiment with different soda combos..... :)

They do not have Freestyle machines on Liberty, and even if they did, the Freestyle machines are not included with the premium drink package.

I have no idea if I "broke even" or not. But the package was within my normal expected bar bill for a cruise, so I suspect yes. For me, though, the whole point was NOT having to think about it and resting on that it was just "taken care of". Budgeted, paid for, no longer a consideration.

I'm a pretty adventurous drinker most of the time, and my taste range pretty far, so there wasn't anything I tried that I wouldn't have otherwise. There were some things I *didn't* try because they were made with things not on the Premium list. But mostly those were things made with Patron or St. Germaine and I've got those or better in my basement anyway, so I can probably replicate anything I missed.

Wasn't buzzed the entire time. Probably didn't get even legally drunk more than once or twice. But a lot of that was because the pressure wasn't there. No need to slam drinks at the events like the captain's reception, because those were free. Everything was "free" in the sense that I wouldn't pay any more for it.

I'll likely get it again, especially on a seaday-heavy trip, or short trips that involve RCCL's private stops.
