Miami Double tree or Holiday Inn?

The Doubletree is a MUCH nicer hotel than the Holiday Inn, but it is also farther away from Bayside if that is your focus. There is some shopping at Bayside and there are shops (local and CVS drug, etc.) near the Doubletree. Both hotels offer some rooms with a view of POM and the ships. The pool area at the Doubletree is fabulous and the bar/restaurant in the lobby is a good option for dinner/drinks, or walk two blocks to Bin 18 (Biscayne and 18th) for great tapas and an extensive wine and craft beer list! :D Both hotels will be about a $12 cab ride to/from the port.

There are not any "shopping malls" in downtown Miami. What are you looking for? Bayside is mostly chain dining options -- isn't there a Hooters or a Chilis in your home town? There are more local shops as well as local dining options in the Mary Brickell Village area -- the Hampton Inn there gets great reviews, but has no view of POM and is not particularly close to Bayside.

Good luck! :)

Thank you,

I will stay in Doubletree . How far is it from Bayside? Can we walk there? By shopping malls I meant to buy clothing and shoes not food:p We need to spend a day between cruises in Miami.

You could walk to Bayside from the Doubletree - probably about 10-15 minutes - or take the people mover thing. After dark I would take a cab back to your hotel.

I'm sure there is clothing and shoe shopping in downtown Miami, but I am usually there on either business or cruising and can't say I have ever looked for or noticed those stores. Maybe a local will chime in or google maps will answer your question.

With a day between cruises I would head to South Beach for shopping, people watching, dining and drinks. Good luck! :)
