SAHMKC Posted October 10, 2013 #1 Share Posted October 10, 2013 We will be sailing on the LOS and I was wondering if the bars have bitters available. I drink bitters & soda water whenever I get to feeling sick to my stomach. It actually works better for me than any over the counter or RX I have tried. I can't imagine cruising without Bitters! littlesteelo Posted October 10, 2013 #2 Share Posted October 10, 2013 Yes, they do have bitters. Remember to make sure they know how much to put in though, since we ordered it on our first Independence cruise and they put far too much bitters in. I'm with you--bitters & soda work beautifully for a queasy stomach. Pink gin (gin & bitters) is another favorite. I can't imagine a decent bar setup without Angostura bitters. If they have orange bitters and maybe Peychaud's, much the better. :D But I'm sure that's too much to ask for in most bars. If you're really in trouble, I recommend the following: The "Stomach Reviver" 3/4 oz brandy or cognac 3/4 oz Kümmel 1/2 oz Fernet Branca 4 dashes Angostura bitters And there's nothing like an aperitif of sweet or dry vermouth (to taste) with Amaro (various brands of Italian bitters) to get you all set for a nice meal.
