Mollythedolly Posted October 11, 2013 #1 Share Posted October 11, 2013 Hi, booking tomorrow to go on Majesty do not know whether to go inside plus or outside standard, as I'm a little on the claustrophobic side I have always booked an outside cabin only the inside plus cabins seem to be slightly larger. If anyone has tried either cabin would appreciate your thoughts. Thanks for any assistance Molly
Cappers Posted October 11, 2013 #2 Share Posted October 11, 2013 Hhhmmm,,as a fellow sufferer of mild claustrophobia I would always go for the outside cabin. Imagine yourself in an inside cabin,,could you stand to be in it for more than a few minutes? Do you always book a window seat on a plane? I do and get very anxious if I can't have one cos I need to see out! If you have an inside plus cabin will that bit of extra space be enough to compensate for not being able to see out? Sheila49 Posted October 11, 2013 #3 Share Posted October 11, 2013 We had an inside plus on deck 4 and it was a good size. It was our first time in an inside and it did not feel claustrophobic at all partly due to the very large mirror where the window would be. I believe the standard outsides are very small. kruzseeka Posted October 11, 2013 #4 Share Posted October 11, 2013 This is a tough one to advise you about. On the one hand the outside cabin gives you natural light (although not at night) but is very tiny with little room to move around. The standard cabins on Majesty are much smaller than the equivalent on the other ships. The inside plus is very much better in terms of space and less claustrophobic but of course there's no daylight. I wouldn't choose to go in a standard cabin on Majesty again as we found it just too cramped although we are perfectly happy with the basic cabins on Celebration, Spirit or Dream. So as I said not easy for you to decide - space v light. Good luck with your deliberations - hope you enjoy your cruise. :)
Little Nell Posted October 11, 2013 #5 Share Posted October 11, 2013 I am claustrophobic too but don't mind an inside cabin since the windows don't open anyway. For me, it is more important to be near the stairs and lift for access to outside space. I hate the window seat on the plane and choose an aisle seat. For me, I would choose the bigger cabin, especially on the Majesty where, as Kruzseeka says, the standard cabins are extremely small.
gillhalfpint Posted October 11, 2013 #6 Share Posted October 11, 2013 We had an inside cabin on the Dream, and I just pretended the "curtains" behind the bed were shut, and got on fine with that. I was worried about feeling shut in, but had no problems.

Thank you all very much for your kind replies, each one has been very helpful. I found a couple of very good Majesty videos on Youtube and because of the very large mirror showing on the inside plus cabins I think I will book one of these. I do tend to go towards needing space around me rather than light, so hopefully I will have chosen correctly. This is for Sheila49, I wonder if you can remember which inside plus 4 cabin you were in as it sounds ideal. Do you remember, please, if there was any noise? Thank you for your assistance. I find everyone is extremely helpful and friendly on this website.
Sheila49 Posted October 12, 2013 #8 Share Posted October 12, 2013 Hi Molly, I'm fairly sure it was 4040. It was midship, handy for lift, reception and no noise. If you are in the Facebook group, Berwyn (who is also on here) has been in that cabin too and recommends it to everyone! Sorry I didn't take a photo but Berwyn has one on FB. Sheila49 Posted October 12, 2013 #9 Share Posted October 12, 2013 Hi again Molly. Just remembered that Berwyn probably reviewed this cabin in Sailaway's Spreadsheet. Unfortunately for some reason I can't access it today to check. Maybe someone else will have more luck!
Sheila49 Posted October 12, 2013 #10 Share Posted October 12, 2013 Sorry, have managed to get in to the spreadsheet but no review for that cabin but a couple for other inside plus ones.

Hi Sheila49, the deed is done. Tried to get 4040 and the next cabin but out of luck, however, did get one which is in same area but on other side, hope this one is just as good, I think it is a 3 berth rather than a 4 berth but husband likes it because it is right near the stairs. Thank you for your help with this. Molly
