suncrab Posted October 12, 2013 #1 Share Posted October 12, 2013 Hi, We were thinking of joining a roll call and attending a connections party but wondered when they usually would hold these?. Some Pax reviews have indicated that they were held on the first day of the cruise and we are not sure if this would suit us.
kathynorth Posted October 12, 2013 #2 Share Posted October 12, 2013 You can post on your roll call without signing up for thr connections party. Roll calls can provide you with tips, opportunities to share tous, etc. there's really no reason that I can think of to not introduce yourself to your fellow cruisers. We've connected with lots of great people over the years via the roll call board. I also feel the same about the connections party. This is usually held on the first sea day. It's a way for people who've met on the boards the meet face to face, which is especially good when you've planned private tours with others. If you don't feel like going on that day or if there's a conflict with another event then you just don't go.
Gonzo70 Posted October 12, 2013 #3 Share Posted October 12, 2013 The meeting day/time varies. If the day after boarding day is a sea day, good chance it will be held that day (often late morning, but again this varies). I definitely have enjoyed utilizing the Roll Call boards (separate from the connections party); great resource for asking questions to those that will be sailing with you, sharing information, organizing group activities on the ship as well as excursions of the ship. You can participate and share as much or as little as you like. Definitely check out the Roll Call and then at a later time you can decide if you want to partake in the Connections Party. 50 Shades of Beige Posted October 12, 2013 #4 Share Posted October 12, 2013 It is a pity that Celebrity don't publish a list of confirmed parties, Royal Caribbean do, it does make it a bit easier for organising spa appointments etc.
wallie5446 Posted October 12, 2013 #5 Share Posted October 12, 2013 It is a pity that Celebrity don't publish a list of confirmed parties, Royal Caribbean do, it does make it a bit easier for organising spa appointments etc. We got our conformation email about our's weeks ago just as we have when we sail RCCL. The same computer handles it for both lines. Suncrab, register for the party, it does not mean you have to go, but will help in reaching the minimum number required for Celebrity to set it up. Tudorcruisers Posted October 12, 2013 #7 Share Posted October 12, 2013 Ours was on the first sea day and it was either 10 or 10-30 am. It was great to meet everyone I had chatted to "virtually" for months. I would definitely recommend it.
CaribbeanBound Posted October 13, 2013 #8 Share Posted October 13, 2013 Yes, it's usually scheduled on the first sea day at a very inconvenient time (when lots of things you also wish to attend are going on).
miched Posted October 13, 2013 #9 Share Posted October 13, 2013 The one and only one that I was involved in was scheduled the same time as the wine tasting similar that was free for the Elite. No brainer. Guess what one that I attended. :D .:D
Blazerboy Posted October 14, 2013 #10 Share Posted October 14, 2013 We've found that meeting up at Sail-away is a better way to connect, both because of potential schedule conflicts and because of mis-delivered invitations. ccruisequeen Posted October 15, 2013 #11 Share Posted October 15, 2013 Yes, it's usually scheduled on the first sea day at a very inconvenient time (when lots of things you also wish to attend are going on). What if there are No sea days? Pacific costal cruises are one port after another except for two days in San Francisco! "I can see Carnival Miracle and Inspiration from my porch" (to paraphrase Tina Fey as S. Palin) I still cruise for Warm Chocolate Melting Cake (with 2 sugar-free vanilla ice-creams!) Wine-O Posted October 15, 2013 #12 Share Posted October 15, 2013 What if there are No sea days? Pacific costal cruises are one port after another except for two days in San Francisco! We were on a Wine Cruise, and the CC Party was held the morning of the first port visit. It was a tendered port, and hardly anyone showed up. On a TA when the first sea day was day 4, they passed out invitations to the CC Party upon check in. It was held in the Sky Lounge during sailaway. Needless to say, we had our own, and the attendance at both was about 50/50. I agree, the sailaway party is much better, but if you can get someone on your Roll Call to organize, the best way to meet/greet is a pre-cruise dinner/cocktail get together.
