www3traveler Posted October 13, 2013 #6 Share Posted October 13, 2013 If I had to guess I would say two things: (1) A Coast Guard Inspection with a crew drill and (2) The United States Public Health Service doing their inspection.
CruisinMaterial Posted October 14, 2013 #7 Share Posted October 14, 2013 Since the Norwegian Jewel had already been sailing in US waters prior to her repositioning from Alaska I don't think it had to do with the US inspectors. I have a friend who tried boarding the Norwegian Star today and reported NCL corporate as having computer issues. Check-in was stopped for several hours and subsequently the Norwegian Star was late on her departure as well. The scheduled departure time was moved back to 8PM. :( I believe this may have delayed several NCL ships, not just the Star who were turning around today so that could very well explain what is going on with the Jewel. Muster drill was not held until 5PMish on the Star.
CruisinMaterial Posted October 14, 2013 #8 Share Posted October 14, 2013 She is moving though at just shy of 14 knots now down the River! Wow... she's making up for lost time I guess. :D
www3traveler Posted October 14, 2013 #9 Share Posted October 14, 2013 The Star also had in Miami:(1) A full Coast Guard inspection with a crew emergency drill, (2) a full Immigration check of staff (3) A US Public Health Inspection. This happens twice a year as ships make the transition from one sailing season to another. The Jewel had been in a number of foreign ports from Vancouver, British Columbia to New Orleans.
