terrizeb Posted October 15, 2013 #1 Share Posted October 15, 2013 All - I'm on Allure this week and having a great time (just returned from OceanAria!). I just wanted to share this notice we were given when boarding. We would like to advise you that Allure of the Seas has a minor restriction on her top speed which requires a slight adjustment to her original itinerary. All guests are required to be back on board the ship no later than 1230pm in Nassau in order to ensure a timely arrival to our next port of call. The scheduled arrival time in Charlotte Amalie is now 1100am on Wednesday with an all aboard time of 630pm. We would like to assure you that the small restriction on the top speed has no impact on other parts of our operation and no further impact on the rest of our itinerary. We apologize for any inconvenience and look forward to providing you with a great cruise vacation experience. From what I've seen, Royal Caribbean really helped people to rebook excursions as needed. It hasn't adversely impacted the cruise so far. I'll post again if I hear anything else. Terri

Did they give any further explanation regarding maintenance or why the top speed is lower?
Clarea Posted October 15, 2013 #3 Share Posted October 15, 2013 I'm really curious to know what the problem is. Maybe a generator they had to take our of service, or an azipod down? I know that the center azipod on Indy was out of service, and they sailed that way for months.
reedl Posted October 15, 2013 #4 Share Posted October 15, 2013 I missed Jamaica last year on the Liberty because of a medical emergency. I hope I do not miss it this year because of mechanical issues. I am on the Allure leaving the 20th. Lets hope that they fix this issue quickly. believer33323 Posted October 16, 2013 #5 Share Posted October 16, 2013 We are on Allure October 27th. We already had an excursion cancelled in St. Thomas and was trying to book some other excursion on our own for the 10 of us. I'm going to put everything on hold and just wait till we get on board. Too bad, had a few nice options I was going to try.
trev71 Posted October 16, 2013 #6 Share Posted October 16, 2013 when we were in Nassua the first time in May of 2013, origally we were suppost to leave at 3pm by the time we got on the ship they said we had to be on the boat by 1pm... It kind of annoyed me but we really didnt miss too much in Nassua
reney313 Posted October 16, 2013 #7 Share Posted October 16, 2013 Missing an hour or so in Nassau on such a short port day doesn't really bother me (not to mention this will be my 9th time to Nassau). I wasn't planning on any excursions, just walking to the Queen's Stairs and the Fort as my boyfriend hasn't been there before, and then hoping to make it to Arawak Cay for lunch. We might cut that bit out, but no biggie. I am more concerned of the "reason" for the reduction in top speed. Is it is a gas saving move? Or is it something I should be concerned about with propulsion??? We don't sail until January so hopefully it is fixed by then, if it is indeed a propulsion issue. I'll be curious to see if we get a change in itinerary notice or not.
Ocean Boy Posted October 16, 2013 #8 Share Posted October 16, 2013 This is one more example where is would be nice if RCI would just supply the reason and head off the speculation. People tend to react better when they know the "why" behind the changes. It would also give folks on subsequent cruises more of a sense of whether or not their cruises are going to be affected and what to expect. roquejo Posted October 16, 2013 #9 Share Posted October 16, 2013 Also concerned with this, as I'm sailing allure in exactly 1 month. Hope it is nothing serious..

Also did you dock at the Havensight or Crown Bay terminal? I looked online last night on one of the Maritime trackers sites and it showed you in the Havensight . We are trying to plan some things and am getting conflicting information as to the port.

They have always gone to Crown Bay, where there is pier side security scanning needed to handle the passenger load of those ships.

The said I do not understand why the tracking Web site showed it at the havensight port. Everyplace I read states that it docks elsewhere.
