Few thoughts - just off the Pride

We had a great cruise on the Pride, and thought maybe someone might be interested in my suggestions ;)

When we went through security, we were asked if we had any wine or water - we answered just soda and juice( the truth ) and the security guys could have cared less less what was actually in those bottles -YMMV :

The bathroom had plenty of nooks and shelves for toiletries, but there was NO space to put anything IN the shower - I brought a holder that you could attach inside the shower and it was a lifesaver. Just google Cruise Ship Caddy and it should show up.

My other great purchase was a B/O motion detector that I put inside the bathroom - it was GREAT !! I hate it when my husband gets up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom, opens the door and the whole cabin is flooded with a lot of light  Or if it's me getting up, I don't need a bright glaring light to see what I need to see -'LOVED the nightlight :) I bought it at Lowes.

I also brought an insulated cooler - it was great- kept ice MUCH longer that the regulation ice bucket

My husband always teases me about the stuff I bring that ends up not being that useful - but this stuff was the BOMB :D:D

Hope everyone enjoys their Pride cruise as much as we did - LOVE cruising out of Baltimore :)

Hi Jane,

My daughter and her husband were on your same cruise. They are both deaf, and had sign language interpreters on board with them. They said they met a lot of nice people on the cruise. Just wondered if you might have seen them? They loved the cruise.

Thanks for the info - what's a b/o motion detector? Where did u buy that from along with the shower caddy? Just curious - thanks!

I guess I wasn't very explicit :o:o It is a Battery operated motion detector night light that I purchased at Lowes.

I can't mention web sites on here, but if you google cruise shower caddy the website will come up - included in name is favorsby........

I was totally happy with both purchases - they made life alot easier :):)

No, I'm sorry to say I didn't see them, I did wonder about the sign language ladies.

You would have been tickled if you had seen them - during one of the shows the CD Kirk was talking a mile a minute ( his usual speed ) and man, those interpreter's hands were FLYING !!:):)

Was that something the cruiseline arranged, or did they need to do that on their own?

Glad they enjoyed their cruise - we couldn't have had any better weather and the seas were smooth as silk- good as it gets !!:D:D

What fantastic ideas! I love the battery operated motion detector idea. I'll have to see if I can find one of those before our next cruise. Thanks for sharing!

Lucky you - I am in the throes of Post Cruise Depression :(:(

I tell you, that motion detector night light was the MOST handy thing I have ever taken on a cruise !!! I just hate when someone opens that bathroom door in the middle of the night and that darn bright light floods the room. It was plenty of light to go to the bathroom by, and if the light cut off while you were still in there, all you had to do was wave your arm and it would come back on:):)

I hope you enjoy your cruise as much as we enjoyed ours - thats ALOT :D:D

Welcome Back...I love the Pride.

Great idea on the insulated cooler. Its something I have thought to myself would be a good idea while on board and then promptly forget when I get off!

I'm going to order through Bon Voyage the insulated cooler with the beer for my hubby right now. Now I won't forget again! Thanks for the reminder!

Ahhhh - nothing beats an ice cold beer in the cabin :):)

My husband would get a bucket of beer and if any were left, just take them back to cabin and ice down !!

I saw them at the shows and those interpreters were awesome. I think I had a better time watching them then the show! They really were able to get the emotion of what was going on in the show. I hope your daughter and husband enjoyed the cruise.:)

Jane,

I was on this cruise as well but had a different experience with security. We had a 12 pack of water and they shook it to see if it would "bubble". We also had 3 bottles of wine and they made sure there were 3 adults (1 for each adult). The lady in front of us had her liquor confiscated. Also a guy next to us had beer taken. We enjoyed the cruise tho. NICE WEATHER!

Jane,

I believe the cruiseline made the arrangements for the interpreters to be on the cruise. Another daughter and myself, along with my deaf daughter and son-in-law, were on a cruise all together a few years ago. We were on RC that cruise. My daughter just emailed RC and told them she and DH were deaf, and needed an interpreter. RC took it from there. Soon after we boarded the ship, the interpreters (they always have 2, so they can relieve each other) found us, and introduced themselves. Told us they would attend all the shows, be available to interpret at dinner, and also accompany us on any tours we might take. We had our own little reserved space, in the theatre, where my daughter and SIL could easily see, both the stage and the interpreter. They did an awesome job. I am assuming Carnival handled things much the same way. I talked with the interpreters, and found out they got the cruise free, and also got paid to take it. Very nice work, if you can get it. :D:

I have an insulated cooler to use this cruise. This time I went to the dollar store and bought a small plastic tray to put the cooler in. Its lightweight and will stop any leaks/condensation. Since it only cost a dollar I can just throw away if I don't have room in my suitcase.

We met an interpreter on one of our cruises. She worked for a company and lived in Miami, and her fee and cabin are paid by the cruiselines. So she worked on several different cruise lines. So some times she worked every week, sometimes once a month. She sometimes had a lot of free time, depends on the needs of her clients. She told us the last cruise she was on she had a whole family and all they did was complain about everything -she spent a lot of the cruise at Guest Services. They were very unhappy people and would not listen to reason--said she really needed a vacation!

FYI the last one I ordered really leaked. I think this is why everyone is suggesting that you line it or buy a try or place it in the shower.

I also found the Port of Baltimore to inspect every bottle of water you brought and they even took my wine because it was over the size requirement. I had to go to the naughty room after the cruise to pick it up.

Yes, they have always closely checked wine and water, but when we told them we just had sodas and juice they never took another look ;);)

I could have had ANYTHING in my cranberry juice bottles :D:D

Search Amazon dot com and you will find it. ;)

When you find the seller on Amazon, go to their website and buy it directly - a lot cheaper. They also have nice reusable holders for the cruise luggage tags
