sunsetme Posted October 18, 2013 #1 Share Posted October 18, 2013 beyond the 2 bottles of wine allowed at embarkation, what is the corkage fee charged if you bring more?
SadieN Posted October 18, 2013 #2 Share Posted October 18, 2013 Carnival only allows one 750ml bottle of wine per passenger over 21. Corkage fee is $10 for the MDR and a bit more in the steakhouse. No corkage if you open it up in your cabin.

If they see it they will confiscate it and return the last night of the cruise
caribsun Posted October 18, 2013 #4 Share Posted October 18, 2013 Purchase a wine package when you board. There are some selections for 25.00. :)

mondello Posted October 18, 2013 #6 Share Posted October 18, 2013 They don't even charge the corkage fee in the MDR all of the time. Our MDR waiter got us an ice bucket and glasses our last couple cruises but did not charge us the corkage fee.

dadroy Posted October 18, 2013 #9 Share Posted October 18, 2013 At what point is the corkage fee charged? I know some people will board at 11:30 then get off the ship to go into town then reboard. If you did this could you bypass the limit by reboarding the ship?

Since it's free if you drink it in your cabin, they don't charge at embarkation like some other lines. The last one might work, but I think it depends if re-boarding is through the same security line or not.

In order not to worry about it we just bring a large glass of wine from our cabin with us on nights we want wine with dinner.

You can get wine glasses at any bar and take to your room. Pour your wine and take anywhere on the ship with you.

I was referencing that one would not need a cork screw if one brought screw top wine. I know the corkage fee has nothing to do with the cork. BeachLoverstoo Posted October 19, 2013 #23 Share Posted October 19, 2013 If you buy the wine packages, there's no corkage fee. On some cruises, we've been charged in the MDR for the wine we bring. We generally pick a wine from the package when we go to the Steakhouse, so never been charged there.

wantocruisemore Posted October 19, 2013 #25 Share Posted October 19, 2013 On our last 7 nt cruise we bought the wine package and then on 2 of our nights took a bottle we had brought onboard. One of ours was a red and we opened in the cabin and just brought it in with the cork in it. The other, the last night was a nice white. Our waiter got us a container for it. Then the head waiter thought we needed the big standing ice bucket since he commented it was a nice wine. He brought that. Then later talked to us about the corkage fee. He said in his 4 years onboard he had only charged people twice and they were not nice people. We definitely gave all our wait staff extra tips at the end. They were great.
