beyond the 2 bottles of wine allowed at embarkation, what is the corkage fee charged if you bring more?
Not allowed to bring more. If they see it they will confiscate it and return the last night of the cruise

At what point is the corkage fee charged?

I know some people will board at 11:30 then get off the ship to go into town then reboard. If you did this could you bypass the limit by reboarding the ship?

It is charged when you bring the bottle to a bar or dining room to be consumed. Since it's free if you drink it in your cabin, they don't charge at embarkation like some other lines.

The last one might work, but I think it depends if re-boarding is through the same security line or not.

Sometimes they will charge it in the DR and sometimes they will not. Depends upon the MD.

In order not to worry about it we just bring a large glass of wine from our cabin with us on nights we want wine with dinner.

Just bring a cork screw, or ask your room steward, as they have them. You can get wine glasses at any bar and take to your room. Pour your wine and take anywhere on the ship with you.
My waiter often "forgets" to charge me the $10 corkage fee; I then remember to tip him more at the end of the cruise!
Headwaiter will only charge it if forced to do so by MD. They know it might very well come out of their tips.

Bring screw top bottles and you don't have to worry about the cork screw! ;)

You are right. I've never been charged. You buy wine then on a formal night you bring your own they just open it. No big deal,

Mine charged me, which stinks for her because I was going to add it to her tip at the end of the cruise instead. I think most head waiters are clever enough to anticipate this.

They still charge. We had a pull cork.
The waiter made a big deal about undoing the foil and had the corkscrew ready. His face was priceless when he saw the cap.

I wasn't referencing the corkage fee. I was referencing that one would not need a cork screw if one brought screw top wine. I know the corkage fee has nothing to do with the cork.

This is why we bring on a 3 liter box and on nights we want wine with dinner bring a large glass with us.

No worries.
Carnival only allows one 750ml bottle of wine per passenger over 21.

Corkage fee is $10 for the MDR and a bit more in the steakhouse. No corkage if you open it up in your cabin.
No corkage fee if you bring it in a glass to the MDR. The corkage fee has nothing to do with them opening it for you.

On our last 7 nt cruise we bought the wine package and then on 2 of our nights took a bottle we had brought onboard. One of ours was a red and we opened in the cabin and just brought it in with the cork in it. The other, the last night was a nice white. Our waiter got us a container for it. Then the head waiter thought we needed the big standing ice bucket since he commented it was a nice wine. He brought that. Then later talked to us about the corkage fee. He said in his 4 years onboard he had only charged people twice and they were not nice people. We definitely gave all our wait staff extra tips at the end. They were great.
