Loyal to Royal But

I am a diamond member with royal caribbean. I have only cruised with royal. I am looking to do a different cruise line. Looking at either the Breakaway with NCL or the Breeze with Carnival. Any suggestions would be helpful.

To RCI (Royal, X or AZ), as long as they have the same itineraries as everyone else. Having said that I'm open to other options, and MSC has been in my sites, as well as Princess, basically for the itineraries they offer now and again. But to chose them I would have to save up for my bar bill might be higher than the cruise LOL.

;) Celebrity is great. We also like Princess, very much. Their ships are beautiful. We love NCL Freestyle....Carnival, blah. We enjoy shows and different entertainment venues, which Carnival seems to be lacking in. I guess it depends on what you enjoy. Big foodies? Celebrity....

Judging by your cruise history, I think most of the Carnival ships would be disappointing. NCL Breakaway might be an option if you are interested in Bermuda. Personally, I have had great experiences on NCL. I just haven't enjoyed the ships as much although breakaway has me intrigued. It really is a personal decision because the experiences are very subjective.

I like to have some variety so taking a break from RCI every few cruises and going on another line helps so I don't get "bored" with the same activities (eg. Quest, Belly Flop, Sexy Legs, etc) or with the same menus. RCI is my first preference but the other lines do have their own strengths as well and sprinkled in here or there really helps with that monotony. Of course, it is a difference when you no longer have status, etc. so that is something to take into account if the status perks are a priority for you.

If you are looking to branch out, then explore new itineraries.

First decide where you want to go. THEN look at what other cruise lines go there.

I would pick NCL over Carnival have been on the Breeze and wasn't impressed and on NCL Dawn and like them and the Breakaway should be better than the Dawn.

Anyship except Carnival to Bermuda with the longest amount of time there! On my wish list. ;)

That's some diamond in your signature, but if you've got it flaunt it :)

We are doing our right RCI cruise in ten days time but have booked one on NCL for next year. Quite happy with RCI but curious to experience another cruise line and NCL has freestyle dining which is something we would like to try.

Celebrity is a nice alternative. You would get Celebrity perks at the Elite level which are pretty nice. :)

We did a 7 night TA on Breakaway. Nothing "free" and no "style" was seen. The most important problem I had with the line is they did not take safety seriously. The boat drill was 1000+ people in the main lobby and only one crew member for each station knew the route from the lobby to the life boat and they would not tell us how to get ther. The boats were on a different deck and the stairs were behind crew only doors

.

The food was always cold because it was prepared on a different deck and wasn't sent to the prep station until several tables were ready. You could never get the same waiter twice. No cook or server had a food thermometer.

Shows had no energy.

Officers were stuk up and down right unfriendly. Very few crew members would speak to you.

The common areas were low ceilings and dark mostly. The large open lobby (boat drill) was open above to two decks and resembled a hotel lobby.

So, I guess you could say I was not impressed with NCL and did not appreciate the Breakaway.
