Since they are your Gand kids then to make sure they are safe bring their own floaters and life jackets .

This way they will feel better to and it may be more convienent too Floaties don't take up that much room or weight n your luggage

Anyway

You can bring water wings or life jackets for kids. Carnival does not allow pool toys though, such as mats, in the ship's pools. You can, however, take those to use in ports.

Hope you have a great family cruise!

We have never seen life jackets or floaties on any of the cruise lines we have sailed. We always bring our own for our daughter.

For those that have little ones and have tried blow up arm rings or life jackets and have had trouble with them working and flipping your child, I suggest getting a puddle jumper. It's the best thing ever created and it's the ONLY thing that ever worked for my daughter before she learned to swim. We still take hers for swimming in the ocean for safety. :)

Would you please explain what a puddle jumper is? I'm thinking it may be the swimsuit with a built in life jacket? Thanks

You put it on over the bathing suit. It's not built in. It's the best $20 invest I have ever made.

It has a strap that goes around the back and it clicks in.

Don't use water wings, especially on younger children. They are no use for protection, and are downright dangerous. They don't float the children - they simply float the arms above the head, forcing the body and head (face) below the water - think about it. Reputable pools will not allow them - I know the pool I ran did not. Note: I am a Red Cross Life Gaurd Instructor (LGI), Swimming Instructor, and former Aquatics Director, not just someone with an opinion. I hope I've saved at least one child's life by posting this...

My grandson actually has one that I think the eyes on the face "stands out" on it. I know it's a little different than my daughters.

Omg...those are too cute. Definitely will be checking these out for my granddaughter. We have a line on the wall marked at 42 inches...tall enough for the water slide! She loves them but hasn't learned to swim yet. After last weeks tragic accident, I want to make sure she is having fun but is safe. Thank you.

I remember your review with your little girl jumping off that platform, was it in Roatan? Fearless.

Which water slide will she be riding? Because most places (including on the ships) will not allow you to wear any type of flotation devices down them. So, they either have to empty into a pool and be able to swim, or on the ships they just end at the bottom of the slide where you are just sitting.

Yes, that was her jumping off the 2 story deck at Little French Key. Although she can swim, I still do not trust her in the ocean without her flotation device. (Unless she is right in shallow water knee deep and we are standing/sitting right there with her). That was the first time we had ever allowed her to do something like that and we were right below to grab her and help her along. Reflecting back on that moment, it almost scares me now. She also snorkeled with me once (in water that I could touch the bottom and be able to stand up if I needed to hold her) this past cruise as well. After last weeks accident, it has kinda made me reflect on just how fearless our little one is. It also has me thinking and re-evaluating just how daring she is and what we have allowed her to do without a life jacket. I think I might have to enforce the life jacket a little more this time around even though she fights me on it and tells me "I'm a big girl now." :(

Where can you get them? Looks perfect for my 2 year old GD.

Ditto. There's a reason you can find those things in the $1 bins.

Use life vests or teach the kids to swim. :)

I've only been on ships where the water slides end where you are sitting flat. We go to a local water slide park and she plays on them endlessly. I wasn't thinking of the life vests for them...just the pool and/or beach time. I know what you mean about second guessing yourself. My son once jumped out the second story window onto the trampoline. Oh my Lord.

Yea, that's how all the ships I have been on too end...sitting flat at the end of the water slide. So, I wasn't sure if you were referring to a water slide maybe somewhere in port (like Playa Mia's water slide in Cozumel empties into a deep pool).

We use to have an in ground pool with a slide at my house and when my oldest son (now 27) was a teen, he would jump off the top of the slide into the deep end or off of the garage roof into it. I stayed on him constantly about it and use to have nightmares about him missing the pool and hitting the concrete. :o He's always been a dare devil.
