Crown and Anchor-Celebrity cruises

So, i'm possibly checking out a cruise to Alaska next year and I noticed that Celebrity cruises is a little more cheaper than Royal Caribbean on the dates I'm looking at. My understanding is I get the same benefits on Celebrity with my crown and anchor membership? I will be a diamond member after I complete my cruise next week.

 

I was also considering booking my next cruise while on board next week. Do they book celebrity cruises? Last question...can you get the onboard booking benefits if they are able to book a celebrity cruise?

 

I have never sailed on Celebrity so I am not a member over there. I'm not sure what I would need to do to get similar benefits. Thanks again in advance...

As Diamond on RC, you will be recognized as Elite on Celebrity.

 

You can book both RC and Celebrity cruises on board both lines.

 

You can purchase "next cruise" certificates for both lines on board both lines.

 

All privileges that come with booking on board are there, regardless of the ship on which you book.

Edited to add: I just looked at "Elite". Is that the highest level Celebrity has? IF we go with the Alaska cruise, I'll need to start looking at the Celebrity boards.

 

Last question...if we purchase just a next cruise certificate, can that, along with the OBC, be applied to a Celebrity cruise as well?

Yes, Elite is currently the highest level. There is much talk about changes coming, however.

 

The next cruise certificates are different for the two lines. You have to buy the one that you want.

 

Next Cruise = Royal Caribbean

 

Passages = Celebrity.

I'm sorry...I'm not following? Do you mean the $100 PP deposit? Do you mean I would have to specifically do the deposit for a "passage" cruise on Celebrity?

You can buy a "Next Cruise Certificate" on either RC or Celebrity. It is only good for a Royal Caribbean cruise.

 

You can buy a "Passages Certificate" on either RC or Celebrity. It is only good for a Celebrity cruise.

 

They work the same way. $100pp deposit (unless booking a full suite) and you get OBC based on the length of the cruise that you are booking.

No balcony discounts, but some sort of category upgrade. The last I heard it was restricted to staterooms without balconies, but I could be wrong on that.

How does one go about securing the equivalent status on the sister ship? Today I signed up fo the Celebrity Captain's Club, but did not see a way to link that account to my C & A account.

Call Captain's Club with your C&A number and they will link you if you are Platinum or better in C&A.

I'm currently an emerald member and I just signed up on celebritys website with all my information. Interestingly enough, it said I was a "select" member. I didn't put my C and A number in or anything, just my other basic info (name, address, dob, etc) and it shows me as a "select" member. I'm assuming after my GOS cruise next week, it will bump me up to Elite.

 

Bob thank you. I found this under their member benefits:

 

One-category upgrade requests must be made at the time of booking and apply only for inside-to-inside or outside-to-outside staterooms, depending on availability.

Celebrity DOES have savings Certificates in the Captains Club section of the web site. They are posted under the special offers tab. They are all for the same amount which varies by cabin selection and length of the cruise, applicable sailings are listed.:)

The OBC is larger on a Passages $300 max I think.

I contacted Celebrity via email and they replied with a very detailed email that listed all entitlements and explained the process simply. You need to register before you sail so that you will be recognised on embarkation. I hope this helps

You did use the words "similar benefits" later in your post, so yes you get similar but not same benefits. Which set of benefits is better is in the eye of the beholder. Many late diners like that Diamond Happy Hour generally runs from 5 until 8:30pm, while Celebrity generally runs 5 until 7pm, BUT X Elite does offer free Bloody Marys etc for two hours in the morning at the Elite breakfast, along with fresh squeezed juice, smoothies and generally better hand made specialty coffee drinks [but then again X does not have a 24 hour Cappuccino machine that can be found in RCI DL]. X gives Elites three times the internet minutes that RCI gives Diamonds. X Elites get much better laundry and dry cleaning offers. BUT NO Balcony Discount on X is a big disappointment for many. There are other differences, but I gladly accept either offer as it is and don't complain about what I didn't get. If I even think about complaining, I remind myself that, not that many years ago, Elites got nothing but one cocktail party and priority tender tickets.

just got of Oasis and toyed long and hard over booking another cruise. Decided by the end of the cruise, we wanted to try HAL again or give celebrity a try.

 

I've never booked/bought a cruise certificate. thanks for the info!

 

If you have just cruised you can contact Celebrity and they can treat it like you purchased onboard. I don't remember if it's up to two weeks or more when you return from your cruise that they can treat the booking like you are still onboard and get your one or two category upgrade and OBC and reduced deposit. If you are seriously thinking of Celebrity it would be worth a call.

They have not been interchangeable in the past. You had to have purchased a Celebrity Passage to use on Celebrity. Maybe this is changing?

Thanks for all the info everyone. I posted on Celebritys boards to get a feel for what their ships are like and I'm just not sure it's a good fit. I love the activities/entertainment that RCI provides and apparently Celebrity doesn't do these things. (Quest, games such as battle of the sexes, competitions, belly flop contest). It's more dancing, trivia, shows. I love the variety that RCI provides so unless Celebrity has a awesome itinerary or a great deal I can't get on RCI, I may not head down that path.

 

Thank goodness for RCI though :-) I'm definitely a fan!

I just booked the Equinox for 2015 and was definitely able to use my NCC. That would make sense that it's changing then.
