Hotel beacon NYC

Even though this is a wrong forum for the question (correct one would be East coast departures in Ports of Call -section), I stayed in Hotel Beacon on my first ever trip to US in spring 2001 so for nostalgic reasons I'll answer this. ;)

Hotel Beacon is about 2 miles (under 10 mins by car) away from the pier, fastest and easiest transportation is definitely to take a taxi.

We are on the Breakaway next Sunday and staying at the hotel beacon before. My question is how far away from the port is it and what is the quickest way to travel there taxi, train, walk???:)

The Hotel Beacon is a great little hotel right smack in the middle of Lincoln Center. There's a terrific hamburger place next door called P.J. Clarke's, don't miss it.

This is a very convenient place to stay, movies nearby, Central Park a couple of blocks west, subway on corner of 66th and Broadway 1 train will take you to Rockefeller Center in two stops.

A cab to the cruise pier from the Beacon will take seven minutes tops and run you about ten bucks with a tip, maybe a hair more. But, likely you'll leave early on a Sunday morning without any traffic and you will zip down to the pier in no time.

I double checked on Google Maps, and Hotel Beacon is on West 75th, not West 66th. Still a very good area. It is on the Upper West Side, and you can walk to Central Park. You will be on the West side of Central Park, right close to Strawberry Fields and The Dakota apartment building where John Lennon lived and was shot. Also, the Museum of Natural History is on the West side of the Park.

But, it is a little too far to walk to the pier, and you can still catch the Number 1 subway.

I was thinking of the Empire Hotel right in Lincoln Center. The Beacon is in a residential area with lots of great restaurants nearby. There is a super French Restaurant on 68th and Columbus called La Boite en Bois,, great cozy atmosphere, delicious food and they do a wonderfully affordable brunch on the weekends, don't miss it.

Then right up the block between 68th and 69th on Columbus is the most fabulous crepe restaurant, Vive la Crepe. It's a very low key, casual type place with high stools and little seats. The crepes here are a religious experience savory or sweet. We're partial to the smoked salmon, cream cheese and spinach crepes and Nutella for dessert, outstanding.
