Change of itinerary

Just recieved the letter from Thomson via our TA confirming Egypt has been removed from the ports of call and we are now in Ashdod for two nights instead of one. We are booked on Celebration for two weeks B2B 16th June and to be honest were not to concerned about it. We intended not doing much the second week as we have done the Pyramids, lived in Israel for over a year and have been to Cyprus 9 times. May get off in Ashdod and take the bus to Bat-Yam where we stayed. It's a pity for those who intended visiting Cairo and the Pyramids but the £50 each they've given us to spend onboard will come in handy.

I got the same letter on Saturday , But found out a week earlier because I was looking at trips to book, What shock it gave me.

 

I understand why but THOMSON are rubbish, They said they can't give us a full refund but we can move our holiday to something else as long as we pay £50 amendment fee each , lucky we are a couple. And can only pick from a TUI product, Ok im not being funny, but I don't pick a holiday because off the company , plus I could have booked the holiday in a thomascook shop etc .

 

I tried to explain that the holiday with different port of call is now a lot cheaper and Thomson replied you don't book a holiday for the itinerary *** Sorry.

 

So since they said I can move the holiday might pick a really cheap holiday now as I really can't be bothered . I lost my mum at 58 this year, she didn't know she was sick and was given 2 weeks to live and lasted 9 weeks so thankful for that as we got to talk and say bye, Lost our dad less then 2 years ago at 63 and never got to say bye, and she told me to do everything u want to do now and go see pyramids etc .

 

That's why this holiday was so important for me and my mum . And that why now I feel I can't be bothered ( grief I know)

Thomson are talking out of their backsides - not booking a holiday for the itinerary? Someone is taking the proverbial.

 

Utter, utter twaddle and what an awful attitude - that needs addressing.

 

I'd have a right old go. Why do they produce brochures/web sites to browse? Why do you choose your destination? Why do they give details of destinations/ports of call? Etc. etc. etc.

 

Do you turn up at an airport and see what plane they pack you on?

 

Be bothered and ruffle some feathers - contact the CEO and ask if he pitches up to work without knowing what his job is that day.

 

There are Ts & Cs about changed itineraries and you won't be able to change from Thomson (unless you want to lose all your dosh). But there is a hint in to the idiot who said about not booking a holiday for the itinerary in the fact there are changed itineraries Ts & Cs.

Are other decks available? If so but you can't book Deck 9 that probably means all those cabins are already booked.

 

I've just been on their site to check your date and there seems to be very limited cabin availability now - just Deck 1/2 inside or outside cabins and deck 3/4 inside.

The rumour is they're adding balconies to deck 9 on its drydock next month, but so far no confirmation from Thomson regarding this. I'm wondering whether they might be making further changes to these cabins: add balconies in drydock then during this winter season while sailing update the cabins so the interiors are better otherwise they'll just be the standard deluxe with older furniture with balconies. Would have thought Thomson would have mentioned something soon, even if for booking for May onwards as they'll be the highest category cabins, but they don't seem willing to sell them. Odd????

I posted this on 27th May - Hi fellow cruisers, booked Ancient Wonders/Egypt and the Holy land for June 16th next year through our TA and when we asked for a specific cabin on deck 9, were told it was unavailable. Thinking it was booked already we gave alternatives all with the same result. Thomson told our TA deck 9 was temporarily unavailable to pre-book for Summer 2014 so we settled for cabin 062 on deck 8. Looking for an explanation I called Customer Care to be told the same thing and that they didn't know the reason as Head office had not given them one.

Not happy with that and just looking for an answer I asked for the Head Office number and called them myself. Guess what? The person I spoke to in HEAD OFFICE couldn't tell me the reason as HEAD OFFICE hadn't told THEM. I was told it MAY be available to book later.

According to our fellow cruisers on CC, Celebration is going into dry dock soon - maybe to have balconies fitted to deck 9 cabins?
