Dinner restaurant suggestions near Embassy Suites in FLL

Hi everyone-

We're staying at the Embassy Suites in Fort Lauderdale the night before our cruise. Been looking for restaurants and things to do that afternoon. We would take the kids to Miami but I'm not sure how much time we'll have so we may stick to FLL since my husband I have never been there. (Suggestions on things to do are very welcome :-). We'll be with a 14yo and an 8yo.)

Anyhow, we're looking for a decent but reasonably priced place for dinner ($15- $20 for entrees). My daughter is very adventurous and likes most any ethnic food but our son hasn't gotten there yet, so a kids menu or pasta option would be good.

Thanks so much for any suggestions and help. This board is great!

For a view of the Cruise port and ships - Grill 66 & Bar - top of Hyatt Regency

For Pasta and good food - Giorgio's on 17th Street ( A walk away)

Bimini Boatyard is just down the road from Embassy Suites. Has a very good varied menu. We had a late lunch there and probably the best fish tacos I've had. You can sit outside and watch the boats.

Also, Harbour Shops is nearby and it has a few restaurants. We ate also at Lauderdale grill there and were pleased.

LOTS of choices to eat, great location.

"Duffy's" right behind the Embassy Suites..we just stayed again (Oct 3 & 4) at ES and am sorry that I missed it before...Great food and atmosphere even if it is a sports bar...very busy with cruisers. Also ask for a room at ES that has a view of the port...great seeing our ship (Oasis) early embarkation day..Not sure when your sailing but ES is just finishing up a major renovation to their rooms & atrium buffet area....Enjoy !!

Grill 66 is not at the top of the Hyatt Regency...it is across the parking lot in a one story building on the water...there is a ballroom at the top of the Hyatt. It is expensive and not really suitable for families.

Thanks for the info, RoyalCruz. I'm not yet sure where we'll go but a view would be nice so this helps. The kids are used to restaurants and very well behaved but a ballroom type of place does not sound like a good option! Unless of course there is an awesome wedding taking place that we could crash :-)

LOL! Actually I meant to say that the top of the Hyatt has a ballroom for events only. :) I've never seen any children or teens at Grill 66, but then I tend to eat later. It is really good there and there is a waterview. Pelican's Landing is also waterfront at the Hyatt and is very casual. Bimini Boatyard has outdoor dining available and it is nice but not stuffy. Southport Raw Bar is extremely casual, inexpensive, and waterfront. It is VERY close to your hotel, on Cordova Rd. There are no restaurants with a view of the port, and there would be no ships there after 6 anyway.

We're going to check that place out in December, menu looks great. Glad to hear about the fish tacos. They also have HH from 4 - 8 everyday! We can walk from the Comfort Suite's apparently.

Comfort Suites is where we stayed and we walked to Bimini. When you leave the hotel go out the back way down the street in between Taco Bell and the hotel. Then don't take the first left and get on 17th like the directions they give you. Instead follow your street all the way down, curving slightly to the right in front of the Hyatt. Take a right at the corner at Hyatt and then first left. That takes you in the back way to Harbour shops. Then cut across the parking lot diagonally to the left and exit out the left side near Duffys and get to 17th st. Tak a right and go down a little. Bimini is off the street to the left. You will see a sign.

We followed the hotels directions on the way to Bimini and it was a very long walk. On the way back we cut through Harbour Shops and the back way. MUCH faster.

Kelly's Landing, Quarterdeck, and Southport Raw Bar are three great places to eat on Cordova Road. They are all close together and an easy walk from the hotel. I had dinner last week at the Quarterdeck with my best friend and we both enjoyed it. The restaurant has a few cool ship models located in the main dining room. The bar was doing a booming business when we arrived around 8:00PM.

I think the top of the Hyatt is venue space and no longer operates as a restaurant.

I like Bimini Boatyard, Southport Raw Bar, Duffys.

I don't know what time of year you are cruising, but the ES has a very nice outdoor pool area. If the weather is nice you would have no trouble spending the afternoon there. With children, I don't think I would plan dinner at the ES. I would say go to any of the suggested restaurants in the area of the ES.
