Three Day Golden Princess

I'm back! We had calm seas and great weather. We had a wonderful time and I'm ready to go again!

If you have any questions, I will do my best to give you an answer.

Awesome, glad to hear you had a wonderful time! We are doing this cruise in 40 days.

How were the people aboard... did you see many drunk/party people?

Do you happen to know if there was a pub lunch one of the days?

Thank you :)

Pub lunch is served on the sea day.

The younger people tend to flock to the trips that are sailing over a weekend. Our October 4th trip had alot of them, including a group sporting fancy tattoos. Not too many children....but enough to make it noticeable.

Pub lunch was served in the Crown Grill on the sea day. I'd never been and did enjoy the fish and chips.

I asked for a hot tea, but the waiter said there was a charge for this (how do they even generate a charge on the system for something that is not chargeable?), so I passed at the moment, and then went up to the Horizon Court afterwards and had the hot tea. No Charge!!

The weather was ok. Foggy in the morning, and kind of cool in the afternoon, but typical for southern California.

Also, I heard from a young group of folks that there was fight in Skywalkers on the last night at about 1 am, with some damage to the DJ booth. One group was escorted out, but they went to their cabins and changed and came back to resume the fight.

Thank you all for the info! I wasn't sure if they would have a pub lunch on the shorter cruises, so I am looking forward to that.

Really sad about the fight. I was actually searching on Instagram for "Golden Princess" and saw people talking about the fight in Skywalkers. I also saw a photo of gal smoking on a balcony and it wasn't a cigarette (if you get my drift!). Hopefully these people are few and far between.

Hopefully these people will be flagged and Princess will refuse to allow them to book future cruises.

I am posting on behalf of my mom. She was on this cruise with a group of 6. This group does at least 2-3 Princess cruises a year. She said it was the worst Princess cruise she has every been on. She said the food has gone down hill, the service was terrible and that Sabatini's was a big disappointment. But the thing I could not believe more than anything was that their party ordered a very expensive bottle of wine to celebrate a birthday. The waiter opened the bottle, poured a half a glass then proceeded to drink the wine! Unbelievable! I suggested to my Mom that maybe Princess is using the weekend cruise as a training cruise for new employees. She called her credit card company to stop the gratuity charges and will be writing a letter to Princess since she has already booked a 12 day Australian cruise in January.

Wow! I would have called the Maitre d' over and complained immediately. I can't imagine that behavior would be condoned by Princess. I wouldn't pay for expensive wine that the waiter had helped himself to nor would I tolerate an employee who behaved in that manner.

You mean he turned the bottle up and just drank it? What?

I didn't see any drunk/party people. I did read about a fight but I didn't see any of that myself.

The Pub lunch was in Chops Grill on the sea day. The food was really good. The Mushy Peas were yummy!

We were on the Caribe deck and you could smell it in the hallway Sunday night.

This isn't necessarily limited to short weekend cruises - we were on the Grand 10 day to Alaska this summer and smelled "that certain smell" coming from one of the cabins in our hallway for the first several days. Then suddenly we didn't smell it anymore, asked around and found out two "young men" had been caught and were put off the ship at the first port after two sea days. They had to find their way home from Ketchikan!

Yes...He picked up the bottle, poured himself half a glass and drank it. Mom is in the process of writing a letter.

She should absolutely be writing a letter, but did she talk to the maitre'd?? I would have summoned him immediately!

Linda,

So nice to hear you had a great cruise. Would you say there more young, loud, party people being that it was a weekend cruise? I know some have been concerned about that

Hi Michelle! I had a great time and you know that I was lucky that I even got to go.

Yes, I would say there were more party people. I didn't see any fights like the one I read about in Skywalkers Nightclub. On Sunday night (Caribe deck, aft) I smelled something that wasn't cigarettes. The odor was super strong in the hallway.

We had a few issues but all in all, I had a great time and I wasn't ready to leave the ship! I'm ready to go again!!! :)

We were on this cruise as well. It was my first Princess and I definitely liked it overall, although to be honest I think I liked the service on Carnival better. I loved the different pools (especially the indoor one since it was pretty cold) and the Piazza, but didn't like how they were constantly pushing the photos, casino, drinks, art auctions, jewelry, etc. Overall it was a fun trip! Did you see the blowhole in Ensenada?

I was looking on youtube for the fight in Skywalkers and could not find it. I thought this one very nice:

MV Golden Princess Rescue, including 2 Dawgs and the female captain. Watch until the end. A nice thank you is posted to the Captain & Crew. Yes, we are proud!

When you order an expensive bottle of wine, it's required that the server taste it to make sure you are getting what you pay for, I do know that you end up loosing half a glass but they do this in a lot of good restaurants

I have never heard of the server tasting the wine; but rather it is served to the person ordering it first for their approval.

That's total BS. A sommelier will 'slurp' it out of the cup worn around his neck. I've NEVER seen a server pour themselves a half a glass and drink it.
