YankeeFan4Ever Posted October 22, 2013 #4 Share Posted October 22, 2013 Does the Gem have a passenger laundramat? No, unfortunately none of the NCL ships have a self serve passenger laundromat. You can send out your dirty laundry for either regular wash and fold service or dry cleaning. The prices are quite high but at least once during each cruise they will offer a laundry bag special which is $25 to wash and fold everything you can fit in the laundry bag which is supplied in your cabin. You can also request to temporarily borrow an iron and ironing board from guest services.
jemrtt Posted October 22, 2013 #5 Share Posted October 22, 2013 No they don't. I recently went on Carnvival again. And it was so nice to be able to do my own laundry & iron at different times. I think they were removed due to fire hazards, but I'm not entirely sure.
Rare mking8288 Posted October 22, 2013 #6 Share Posted October 22, 2013 By design, none of the NCL ships we sailed on has pax laundries. Few of us find "joy" in doing laundry on a cruise - not our idea of enjoying a vacation, even if it's a full sea day with "few" things to do. Having said that, the hand/wash sink with packets of Woolite and the retractable laundry string and/or plastic hangers have done the trick for us on shorter sailings - especially when far from our home port - for items like socks & underwear or quick dry washables. NCL charges $25 for a bag of wash & fold (with Latitude discounts, as I recall) vs. Carnival's $15 bag - which would suffice for cruise of over a week as we travel light - it gets better of course upon reaching Platinum level with the free wash-n-fold.
