Kato27 Posted October 23, 2013 #1 Share Posted October 23, 2013 Hi, were going on a cruise out of fort Lauderdale. And were flying in the day before, so were looking for a hotel to stay pre cruise. If there are no delays, we should be there by noon. So maybe we can explore the area a little. The embassy suites is kind of expensive but if that's the cost for that time so be it. Anyone ever stay there? Can someone recommend another place maybe? Any help would be appriciated:)
CruiserBruce Posted October 23, 2013 #2 Share Posted October 23, 2013 A quick search of the board finds dozens of threads on the Embassy Suites, including: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1896739&highlight=embassy+suites http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1916123&highlight=embassy+suites http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1838016&highlight=embassy+suites
JohninDC Posted October 23, 2013 #3 Share Posted October 23, 2013 Lots of other hotels in the same 17th St area of Fort Lauderdale at various quality/price points -- www.sunny.org has lots of valuable tourist and hotel info on the FLL area. We like ES, but there are other options nearby. Good luck! :)
wantocruisemore Posted October 23, 2013 #4 Share Posted October 23, 2013 We stayed at Comfort Suites airport/Cruiseport which is not far from Embassy Suites. It was cheaper and we were pleased. About a 10 min walk from each other. Free shuttle pick up from airport and transport to port. Great breakfast.

eandj Posted October 23, 2013 #6 Share Posted October 23, 2013 If you want to stay nearer the beach (across the street) , look at Bahia Mar...often around the same cost as ES. The hotels on very busy 17th st are convenient to shopping for last min items and restaurants. But we prefer beach hotels. They feed our need for the beach views and walks we yearn for coming from the cold midwest in the winter.:D And the water taxi stop is a block away. Keith1010 Posted October 23, 2013 #9 Share Posted October 23, 2013 For one night the Embassy Suites is good for me. They have the nicest breakfast of they typical hotels which include a breakfast. Nice hotel. Keith
Kato27 Posted October 23, 2013 Author #10 Share Posted October 23, 2013 Hi again! Ok so I checked out the Embassy suites, Hilton Marina, and the Comfort suites...thanks for the info...need to make a decision. I have another question, should I book it now, or should I book once I get to Fort Lauderdale?
Keith1010 Posted October 23, 2013 #11 Share Posted October 23, 2013 Book now to lock in the rate. Then keep checking to see if prices go down. If they do get the lower price. Keith

Ashland Posted October 24, 2013 #14 Share Posted October 24, 2013 Hi again! Ok so I checked out the Embassy suites, Hilton Marina, and the Comfort suites...thanks for the info...need to make a decision.I have another question, should I book it now, or should I book once I get to Fort Lauderdale? Always pre-book...Also try pricing it with Last Minute Travel Club (they were offering free membership) and when I did it was the least expensive rate I could find booking it through their block space...Great experience for our 2 nights (Oct 3&4 $106.00 per night) pre-cruise and would use this booking online site again...no problems..ES had the reservation from LMTC under our name and easily verified this prior to arrival when calling the hotel front desk directly. We even had a great location on the top floor overlooking the port. Might be worth considering by you. Best of luck !!
eandj Posted October 24, 2013 #15 Share Posted October 24, 2013 Any info or suggestions here re pricing is a moot point. You don't mention when you need the room. Rates vary big time from month to week to day of week. A room rate in Oct certainly won't come close to one in February in Ft L. :D Have a great time! Sorry I didn't mention the date cause it's marked on the signature there, my bad. I wasn't really asking for a price, I understand I will pay more in January than I would in October . Just want to get something close to stuff and not be too far away The places suggested here are good, I will book ahead of time. Thanks again everyone:D
royalcruz Posted October 24, 2013 #17 Share Posted October 24, 2013 If your goal is to explore Fort Lauderdale, you should stay at Riverside Hotel. It is the only hotel in the middle of Las Olas Blvd downtown. The AAA/AARP rate is $209 and there is a cruiser rate of $239 that includes a $30 transportation credit for cruisers. This package also includes a low parking rate of $8/night during your cruise.

Sorry my giving what a great rate we happened to get through LMTC for our particular dates created a "moot" point in your view.. Just offering personal experience using this online booking agent and the difference it might make to other's... I'm very aware of the fluctuations in pricing..as we have stayed several times during high & low seasons...but thanks so much for pointing that out ;)
eandj Posted October 24, 2013 #19 Share Posted October 24, 2013 Sorry if my comment was taken critically. :o Didn't mean that. The OP is from Canada and might not have been aware of the huge fluctuations in Florida pricing. I know, that frequent Fl cruisers know how it works. But since the OP didn't mention the date of their stay in their post, wanted to point out to them, that the rate on any date other than what they are looking for isn't really relevant in a FL cruiseport city. And would get a better idea of rates if we knew their date of travel. The op cleared that up after my post.

I do the same thing -- when I first joined cruise critic there was a frequent poster on the Princess boards who had multiple pictures in her signature block (not links, the actual pictures). I almost gave up on cc because it was so slow until someone suggested removing the signatures. I haven't known where anyone has been or is going ever since (and don't even have a signature for myself) :D.

pjo Posted October 24, 2013 #23 Share Posted October 24, 2013 We always stay at the ES. Our family is there next month for four nights before our cruise. If you want the best rate go to the Hilton MVP site and book. Do not book with the ES. Paul
