canadarocks Posted October 23, 2013 #1 Share Posted October 23, 2013 (edited) My husband and I will be in Aruba all day on a Sunday in early March. No need to snorkel here, but we will want to take a nice long walk along a beautiful beach. I've narrowed it down to these two choices, both offer chair rentals etc. Reflextions has a pool that we can use, Amsterdam Manor does not. But which has the better beach: Amsterdam Manor on Eagle Beach or the New Nikky Beach Club (Reflextions) at Safari Beach? Arubalisa Posted October 23, 2013 #2 Share Posted October 23, 2013 Better chance of shade at Nikky Beach Club (Reflextions) at Surfside ;) beach. Or head to MVC Eagle Beach which is cheaper than Amsterdam Manor AND offers shade palapas. It is just down the road from the Amsterdam Manor and on the same beach. Sure, add another choice to complicate things! :p ;) Does Nikky Beach offer the same beautiful long stretch of beach as Eagle Beach?
Arubalisa Posted October 24, 2013 #4 Share Posted October 24, 2013 Out of Surfside, Palm and Eagle Beaches, Eagle Beach is the widest. Palm Beach is 1 3/4 mile long. You can walk Eagle, Manchebo and Druif Beaches for a total of 2.3 miles. Eagle Beach itself is about 1 mile long
canadarocks Posted October 24, 2013 Author #5 Share Posted October 24, 2013 Thanks Arubalisa. How long is the beach area at the New Nikky Beach? If you don't mind my asking..... of the three places, where would you go?
Arubalisa Posted October 24, 2013 #6 Share Posted October 24, 2013 If you like to walk you can walk from the cruise terminal to Nikky Beach. OR, you could take a taxi or the public bus to MVC Eagle beach and then walk the length of Eagle Beach. If you don't "need" the swimming pool I would probably go with MVC, but then again it is 34 degrees here this a.m. and we had our first frost :( so any beach is looking pretty darn good at the moment. :D

ilovetropicaldrinks Posted February 2, 2014 #8 Share Posted February 2, 2014 Just wanted to let you know that we were just at Amsterdam Manor on 1/23/14 and they wouldn't rent lounge chairs to us. They said that they do not rent to cruise people. We had a good time though it seriously took about 35 minutes to get a drink when you went up to the bar. Arubalisa Posted February 2, 2014 #9 Share Posted February 2, 2014 We had a good time though it seriously took about 35 minutes to get a drink when you went up to the bar. It was like that when we stayed at the Amsterdam Manor Christmas through New Years. :( One day when there were 4 ships in port, people were 3 deep at the bar. I know for a fact that they brought extra help in, but there was only so much room for the bartenders to work. Palm Beach was worse. :( Just that time of the year... Auntiejo Posted February 8, 2014 #10 Share Posted February 8, 2014 MVC Eagle Beach doesn't have food service on the beach, right? You need to go across the street? I was going to go to Amsterdam Manor because I like the idea of food and drink right there on the beach but now I'm concerned by the comment above about them not allowing cruise passengers. We are the only ship in port that day. I wonder if that makes a difference?
Arubalisa Posted February 8, 2014 #11 Share Posted February 8, 2014 Going across the street is a non issue and prices at MVC Eagle Beach's Tulip Restaurant are less than those at the Amsterdam Manor's Passions Beach Bar. We recently stayed at the Amsterdam Manor with my father who has difficulty walking and he easily crossed back and forth between the beach and resort. MVC Eagle Beach is just a short way down the beach and across the same road. It is a small two lane road which you have to to cross. You could always go to the Amsterdam Manor to eat and rent chaises at MVC Eagle Beach. They are a 1/3 of a mile apart.
Auntiejo Posted February 9, 2014 #12 Share Posted February 9, 2014 I emailed Amsterdam Manor about beach chair rental for cruise passengers and thy said they absolutely do rent them out every day. Strange. Thanks Arubalisa!

No. You can book them through spas though. Some of them offer a beach massage.
