Ed Posted October 25, 2013 #1 Share Posted October 25, 2013 Doing a transatlantic cruise in October 2014 out of Barcelona to Miami. Any one had good success with airline consolidators? Can you recommend one or a good agent in Miami that works with consolidators. I am thinking that Miami to Barcelona is a very popular route so there has to be consolidators locally here, Thanks
138east Posted October 25, 2013 #2 Share Posted October 25, 2013 I'd ask this question on the cruise air forum. I'm doing two westbound TA's this year and the folks on the two roll calls seem to be pleased with RCL's CruiseAir. Not everyone booked with them, but a surprising number of folks did. CruiserBruce Posted October 25, 2013 #3 Share Posted October 25, 2013 The topic of consolidators is discussed extensively on the Cruise Air board, here: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=128 Please do some reading over there- there are tons of posts on several threads, and a "Sticky". Yes, the prices will be enticing. But you HAVE TO read all the fine print and know the restrictions.
Keith1010 Posted October 26, 2013 #4 Share Posted October 26, 2013 Whatever you do be sure you know the rules such as what happens if the times of your flights change. Don't just go with the lowest price because in the end you may regret that. And be sure if you have to switch planes that you allow sufficient time to make the connection. Even if the connection is legal it might be too tight and risky. Finally, be sure to fly in the day or more before your cruise. Again, be very careful when booking through consolidator or though the cruise line. Personally, I like to control my own destiny so even if it costs me a little more I prefer to book my flights directly with the airline. BlueHerons Posted October 26, 2013 #5 Share Posted October 26, 2013 As a long time frequent flyer, I'd be very leery of using a consolidator on a trans Atlantic. Too many ways to get stuck and way too many restrictions.
