We CRUISE On January the 18th 2014. 84 days! YIPPY! So, We haven't yet decided on what we are gonna do for transportation from the airport to the port? We are flying in a day early and are planning to stay in Port Canaveral. Should we rent a car and then drop it off the morning of the cruise? Do rental car places there have shuttles to the port? and then once debarked from the ship will rental car shuttles be there to pick you up and take you to the rental car place to get a vehicle to get back to the airport? Thanks for any answers on this! im gonna post this as a separate question on here so hoping I get some good answers to this !

Thanks!!

All the major agencies are close by in either PC or Cocoa Beach - Hertz, Budget, etc. and all offer free port shuttles. We tend to use Avis more for my corporate rate than anything else - shop around for the best deal. Good luck! :)

Thanks! And what about after the cruise? Do you take a cab to rental place or is there shuttles at the port to take you?

I think I used Avis, but I can't say for sure. All of the rental car companies have the free shuttles. When you drop the car off at Canaveral, the free shuttle will take you to the ship. After the cruise, they will pick you up in a free shuttle to take you to the rental car place to pick up your car. There will be signs for each rental car company and you just stand in line by their sign for the shuttle. It was an easy process.

We enjoyed the freedom with the rental car. It allowed us to stop along the way. Our flight after the cruise was later in the day, so we spent some time at Downtown Disney before heading to the airport. Be sure to bring some $1 bills for the tolls to and from the airport.

Shuttles will take you to the various rental agencies -- I would not bother with a rental because of the time involved (shuttle, paperwork, gas near MCO and turn-in) unless you have a late afternoon or evening flight. Good luck! :)
