Sailing on Celebrity Infinity for the first time. Doing a two week cruise. Are there any facilities on board for doing your own laundry ? Thank you for your response.

None. Their laundry service is excellent however.

Welcome to cruise critic...

Just to cover all the bases so you are aware, as others have said there are no self service laundry facilities on board any Celebrity ship. They also do not have rooms for ironing clothes. Irons and steamers are forbidden and will be confiscated if seen and you cannot borrow an iron for use.

I usually love the ship laundry. I always use it. Infinity was not as good as the other ships. They ruined 2 of my shirts by using an ink marker that bled through onto the other side. On the other ships, they use numbered tabs which identify your cabin. These tabs easily peel off without damaging the clothing. Infinity just used markers. Think carefully before you send out the laundry. Ask how they will identify your clothing. If they say markers, wash clothing yourself in your cabin.

I had never used the laundry on a cruise, but in June '09 my friend and I were going on Summit to the Med. and on the plane coming into Barcelona she accidently spilled orange juice on my white capris. We put them in a plastic bag in the hotel, but forgot about it for 2 days on the ship. When I found them, they were starting to mildew. We filled up a bag along with the capris and used a Captain's Club coupon for a reduced rate. The capris came out spotless.

In Feb. '11 (my 11th cruise) I had reached Elite level and now have free laundry, up to 30 items in the Carib. and Alaska and up to 20 items in Europe. It's great! I use it every cruise and the clothes come out wonderfully. My friends help me fill up the bag.

We were on the Infinity earlier this year and the laundry used the sticky tabs. We have never had a marker used on any of our Celebrity cruises.

OP, there MAY be a fill-a-bag laundry offer and if you are a Captain's Club member there will be a discount. The offer is for launder and fold only.

You can do a search for the laundry list for laundry, pressing and dry cleaning on Cruise Critic.

We have always found the prices to be comparable to shore side laundries (except for the discount types) and the service has been great.

The Infinity does have a retractable line in the shower and plastic clothes pins do not weigh much. I always bring them and soap packets for my hand washables. Everything else goes to the laundry.

alcpa1, glad you mentioned the clothes line. I had been on at least 8 Celebrity cruises before I heard someone mention it. I had no idea there was a clothes line. I don't now if there was one on the C-class ships, too, but it is on the M-Class.

The S-Class ships probably have clothes lines, too, so in Jan. I'm going to look for one on Silhouette or ask the steward. I've washed out things in the sink before and just hung them on the towel rack.

I'm also going to make sure I know where the hair dryer is. On Summit after the re-fit in '12 the hair dryer was not in the bathroom and I couldn't find it anywhere. I was standing there late at night, looking frantic with wet hair. My roommate, a newbie to X, came to the rescue (after I woke her up) by telling me that it was in the drawer above the fridge. She had been in the room when the steward showed her where things were. She didn't know the dryer was in a different place.

On the last night of the cruise, I took a late shower again to save time in the morning. Again frantic with wet hair, I couldn't get to the drawer because the fridge door was already locked. The room steward was off duty and I woke him up with a phone call. He sleepily told me to call the main desk. Finally, someone came to open the door. On Millenium and Summit again after that, I always put the hair dryer somewhere else the last day so I didn't get locked out again.

I just tried to register for the Connections party and it's not working. The first time generated an error and the next 3 times it said it cannot be retrieved. I'll try again in a few days. These glitches happen a lot and always get fixed.

I had the same experience on the Infinity. Don't know why they are different from the other ships, but will not use their laundry again for anything that can be ruined by markers, whether or not it's free. How is it free if it ruins your clothes???
