Trekker954 Posted October 26, 2013 #6 Share Posted October 26, 2013 However solos are getting double points year round now! This is the second time I see this solo benefit mentioned when someone asks about D in December. This is great for all solos, regardless of status, but still doesn't help those D and above. The CEO blogged, they were planning something to replace D in D, well, I still don't see anything.

Scotty G Posted October 26, 2013 #9 Share Posted October 26, 2013 The CEO blogged, they were planning something to replace D in D, well, I still don't see anything. Here is what Adam said in his August Blog: Q. Will there be a program to replace the double diamond in December? Or have we just lost out on this program? Thank You. -William P. A. Hi, William. The December Celebration was a limited promotion provided to our top Crown & Anchor Society tiers over the past years as an extra reward to guests who were cruising. Here at Royal Caribbean, we are always thinking of ways to recognize our most loyal guests as we value your membership within the Crown & Anchor Society. Rewarding you and earning your loyalty over the years is something we strive for every day. Stay tuned for exciting programs we have planned. So I guess we must stay tuned ;)

He did say..........."Stay tuned for exciting programs we have planned". I think that rewarding solo cruisers with double points (triple if in a suite) is pretty exciting news especially since they can earn these points at any time during the year!:D

JohnSnowGOT Posted October 27, 2013 #12 Share Posted October 27, 2013 :DThis is tongue in cheek...........but if you were paying attention to the prices for December sailings.................they were dirt cheap! We got a JS on the ALLURE for $1,199, with a $100 OBC and minus the D+ balcony discount! Just $1,074 for a JS on the ALLURE! WOW! Last December we paid that much for just an OV cabin. This year we have a JS, along with the double points! There were a few threads here announcing the cheap rates too. So for a lot of us.............Diamonds in December is still taking place! Prices for a number of Christmas and New Years sailings have been decreasing as well. The Oasis Christmas sailing is now just about half of what it was just a couple of months ago. An inside is $999. I guess they have a lot of unsold inventory left to clear out.
Trekker954 Posted October 27, 2013 #14 Share Posted October 27, 2013 I believe the December prices dropped a lot (I'm also sailing in December but booked a year ago), due to diamonds dropping out. I also think smokers are disgusted with the new rule and not sailing with RCI. I'm an active watcher of price drops. Drops are happening across the board, for months other than December. Whether or not we misunderstood the blog, I believe most of us thought RCI was going to offer up something else to appease those Diamond and above. Some will flame me for this but I think Diamonds in December was bad for most D+ folk. It helped to artificially inflate D+ members. Soon they'll say' the Cl is too crowded.............SHOCKING! I personally have only seen the Cl lounge crowded a few times. Doesn't seem like an issue right now.
PantherFan Posted October 27, 2013 #16 Share Posted October 27, 2013 I agree I never thought it was good for the program, but was purely to get people to book in December because historically it was and is the slow month. We used to cruise in December all the time for the low prices but stopped after it got to crowded because of Diamonds in December

It was $9200 for the DW and two teenage sons. However a price drop down to 899 per person on a inside stateroom convinced me to get them their own cabin. It was actually cheaper to have them in their own stateroom than to have them as a third/fourth person in the JR suite. The suite dropped to 5800 for DW and I. The inside stateroom was $1800 for the teens. Just checked prices yesterday as I do everyday and they are the highest I have seen since I checked months ago at least for the Indy New Years Cruise
