briehon Posted October 26, 2013 #1 Share Posted October 26, 2013 Dh and I are both "spicy" food type people. Are there jalapeños or other types of foods readily available on board? For example, we usually put jalapeños on pizza and burgers/sandwiches as well as tobasco on eggs and other stuff!!
ready2cruzagain Posted October 26, 2013 #2 Share Posted October 26, 2013 Definitely tabasco. Not sure what ship you are going on but if it has a Blue Iguana Cantina you will have no problems.

kcwingwalker Posted October 26, 2013 #6 Share Posted October 26, 2013 Dh and I are both "spicy" food type people. Are there jalapeños or other types of foods readily available on board? For example, we usually put jalapeños on pizza and burgers/sandwiches as well as tobasco on eggs and other stuff!! Tabasco sauce will not be problem. You can even ask your steward to obtain a bottle for your room or you can bring your own favorite brand. Jalapeños may not be readily available at all food venues. Just ask if you want something and usually the staff will do everything they can to help you. Cruise food can be bland. Please note that I did NOT say bad! So if you and DH are spicy folks you might wish to be prepared.
beachbum6264 Posted October 26, 2013 #7 Share Posted October 26, 2013 I've seen jalapenos at most of the grills where they cook the burgers - look by the potato salad and that kind of stuff. I love my jalapenos too!

For example, we usually put jalapeños on pizza and burgers/sandwiches as well as tobasco on eggs and other stuff!! You could bring a couple of small, sealed bottles of your favorite hot sauces. You could also bring a sealed plastic "shaker" container of red pepper flakes. As long as they are sealed, there should be no problem bringing them aboard ship. Another plus is that these items are nonperishable. Heck, you could probably bring a couple of small sealed jars of pickled jalapenos, but once opened not sure how long they'd stay fresh without refrigeration. Enjoy your cruise. winddawn Posted October 26, 2013 #9 Share Posted October 26, 2013 Look for the Tabasco sauce bottles at the very end of the buffet line, past the carving station and the bread. There will be a tray with all kinds of condiments on it, and you can use the bottle there or take a bottle to your table with you. You can always ask for some sliced jalapenos if you don't see them out. Be sure and tell the dining room waiter on the first night that you want jalapenos at the table every night. They will take care of you.
Velvetwater Posted October 26, 2013 #10 Share Posted October 26, 2013 Heck, you could probably bring a couple of small sealed jars of pickled jalapenos, but once opened not sure how long they'd stay fresh without refrigeration. Enjoy your cruise. They would stay edible for a year plus if no other food stuff contaminated the jar. Pickling is one of the world's oldest preservation methods. The crap/date on the jar is only a legality of big companies. On the Legend the Asian station had spicier stuff...if theres anything like that on the Valor go there. SadieN Posted October 26, 2013 #11 Share Posted October 26, 2013 The Indian Vegetarian dinner ranges from hot to OMG!HOT:eek:!!!!!!!!!!!! (At times it's been so hot that I think the chef had forgot that he already put spice into the dish, then he forgot again and again.) Also some ships have a Tandoor, plenty of spicy food there. Hope that helps a bit as Indian spicy is different than Jalapeno/Tabasco spicy.
