GTY VGT assigned

We got room 6586 for our Nov 6th sailing on the Magic.

I read a little bit about the room and people are complaining that it is too close to the Laundry Room and it gets loud with the machines, people talking , change machine and dryer :(

Please somebody tell me that people won't do laundry on a 4 day cruise?!?!?

Also do you think I can call the 800 number and try to change it ? is that possible on a GTY reservation?

Yep, people do laundry on 4 night cruises. Not as many as on the longer cruises, though. So, you may not have to deal with as much noise.

Unfortunately, with a GT rate, there are no changes. You get what you get. That's the big risk of the lower cost IGT, OGT and VGT rates.

On the Magic and Wonder, laundry rooms are on decks 2, 6, and 7. There are no change machines (so the review you read is many years old!). The laundry works on KTTW card swipes. The laundry rooms are open 24/7 UNLESS there are noise complaints. There is a sign in the laundry room about being quiet, and if guests complain, the rooms will be closed during the "quiet hours" noted in the Navigator.

Yes, some people do laundry on a 4 night cruise--there is always the kid who spills on his only pair or dress pants, etc. Not nearly as many people doing laundry as on longer cruises though.

We have not found room reports to be terribly accurate. What I would do is be happy with the room you have. If you have a noise issue, go to GS. At that point, you have a reason to ask to be moved or to have the quiet hours enforced. They won't move a VGT just because you don't like the assignment. They WILL move you if there is a legit problem with the room and they have a space to move you into.
