backnine05 Posted October 29, 2013 #1 Share Posted October 29, 2013 Does anyone know about the new Fare Code Structure that Carnival is implementing on Oct 31? I saw on goccl dot com that they are implementing this new structuring however the information appears like it is only available for registered travel agents to view. Can anyone speak to this? Rirruto Posted October 29, 2013 #2 Share Posted October 29, 2013 http://www.seatrade-insider.com/news/news-headlines/carnival-simplifies-fare-structure-by-cutting-options-from-six-to-three.html The new structure—consisting of 'Fun Select,' 'Early Saver' and 'Super Saver' options—will become effective Oct. 31 for all future sailings. Fun Select offers a two-category upgrade, and passengers get to choose their stateroom. The fare is fully refundable before final payment, offering a premium and flexible choice. Early Saver gives Carnival's price protection guarantee and closes three months prior to sailing for cruises of five or fewer days and five months prior to sailing for cruises of six or more days. Passengers choose their stateroom. The fare includes a non-refundable deposit and $50 administrative fee for changes to the reservation. Super Saver, for customers who book close to the sailing date, generally opens when the Early Saver pricing window closes. The deposit is non-refundable and the stateroom is assigned by Carnival. I think it's Easy Saver that replaces Early Saver when it's closer to sailing date. Super Saver has a "guarantee cabin" & non-refundable deposit. No changes allowed. They will still have PG, Military, Resident rate, etc. except I don't think they are available all the time & on all cruises.
cruizinisthebest Posted October 29, 2013 #4 Share Posted October 29, 2013 Will past guest and other rates still have price protection up to the final payment date? And what is a premium and flexible option as mentioned under the fun select rate?

And what is a premium and flexible option as mentioned under the fun select rate? I'm "assuming" that you could price drop up to final payment on Past Guest, Military, etc. The premium & flexible option for Fun Select probably means that you have the ability to cancel & receive a full refund up to final payment date. khrivnak Posted October 29, 2013 #9 Share Posted October 29, 2013 Last question, sorry. :o What do the numbers mean? Decks? Like oceanview on the Riviera moving up to an oceanview two floors higher?
familycruzinnewbie Posted October 29, 2013 #10 Share Posted October 29, 2013 "The Fun Select Plus, Easy Saver and Instant Saver fare code options will no longer be offered as part of the simplification. Qualifying fares such as past guest, resident and military as well as special promotional fares will continue to be available." So basically they added in extra categories a year or so ago and now they are taking them away.
CoconutJD Posted October 29, 2013 #11 Share Posted October 29, 2013 Last question, sorry. :o What do the numbers mean? Decks? Like oceanview on the Riviera moving up to an oceanview two floors higher? Kind of. Carnival usually has two cabin categories on the same deck. For example, the front and aft balcony cabins on a certain deck might be Category 8A, while the midship cabins would be 8B, since the midship cabins are "more desirable" (and therefore a higher category) in Carnival's eyes. But generally, yes, you'd be moving two decks up, if you stayed in the same general area of the ship (fore, aft, midship).
indygirl76 Posted October 29, 2013 #12 Share Posted October 29, 2013 Last question, sorry. :o What do the numbers mean? Decks? Like oceanview on the Riviera moving up to an oceanview two floors higher? Ish, but there's also location on the ship to consider. For example, Empress Forward Inside on Fantasy class is a 4D, but Empress Midship Inside is a 4E. Hope that helps! cruizinisthebest Posted October 29, 2013 #13 Share Posted October 29, 2013 Yes it depends on the ship. That's why it's always best to find a good deck plan to look at. Just remember, the numbers represent the type of cabin. The letter represents the location/category. The two-category upgrade built in certain rate options is for like to like cabins. eltigre Posted October 29, 2013 #14 Share Posted October 29, 2013 Considering I have already done 4 cruises & booked my 5th I feel silly asking but here goes. The 2 cat upgrade, when I book either with my PVP or online I pick the deck & cabin, I do it way early & do the early saver rate so I can get price drops. So did I get the 2 cat upgrade in the price I paid or should I have booked a 2 cat lower got my price & then gone up the 2 cats?
