fedexretiree Posted October 29, 2013 #1 Share Posted October 29, 2013 I want to buy good cruise insurance that covers pre existing medical conditions and want to know which is the cheapest and covers the most. I have read many reviews on all insurance out there and seems like there are pros and cons about them all. Just wondering if anyone out there can give me some good advise. I just booked a cruise last Wed. for travel in early December. Thanks in advance
CruiserBruce Posted October 29, 2013 #2 Share Posted October 29, 2013 Two things. First, have you tried insuremytrip dot com? Excellent source for comparative shopping. Second, look over on the Cruise/Travel Insurance board, here: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=635 Several experts over there. sail7seas Posted October 29, 2013 #3 Share Posted October 29, 2013 There are some very knowledgable posters on the CruiseCritic Travel and Cruise Insurance Forum. They are very generous in assisting with questions. Cruiser Bruce's suggestion is very good.

For the policies that cover pre-existing conditions, most require that you purchase the policy within 14 to 21 days after your initial deposit, so please keep that in mind. Read the policy details carefully. The staff on the phone at the website are also helpful in answering questions about coverage.
1025cruise Posted October 29, 2013 #6 Share Posted October 29, 2013 If you already paid your deposit, you have to book insurance within 14 days usually to get pre-existing coverage. I always go through TravelSafe.
Lvteks Posted October 29, 2013 #7 Share Posted October 29, 2013 Quick note: I make sure the policy is the primary payer. That means if I have a claim I don't have to go through my regular company first. We have used Travel.....x. for most trips. Distance makes a difference. Medical evacuation and home hospital option matters most. Depending on age MedJet Assist is an additional consideration.Yearly coverage is a great convenience if you travel frequently by any means. Blessings, Gail

They do not pay any medical costs. We have had a Med jet Policy for years but are certain to also have medical coverage for treatment outside U.S.
Typhoon1 Posted October 29, 2013 #9 Share Posted October 29, 2013 As Bruce mentioned, do some comparison shopping at that website. They are very reputable, and I'm sure you'll find something to suit your needs.
