kkid Posted October 29, 2013 #1 Share Posted October 29, 2013 I am a bit frustrated that X is or has offered better deals than Open Passage to everyone. I booked Eclipse for April 2014 and got prepaid gratuities free, but my Open Passage was useless unless I paid another $600 or so for Concierge class. I didn't really lose anything, but there is less incentive to buy Open Passage on future cruises.

Would have been happy to buy an Open Passage but the incentive was not enough!
jagoffee Posted October 30, 2013 #3 Share Posted October 30, 2013 Haven't they changed the program offering less OBC, but now allowing you to combine them with another special. I have found because of the restriction using them with any other special makes it difficult to use the old ones. I was thinking it might be good to get a few of the new ones, so I could use them. I have several problems lately dealing with one I purchased on last year's TA. They are not compatible with sales, or promotional rates, they do not give you the 3 category upgrade unless it's the Reserved passage. They provided everything via email, but now a friends and family certificate is required for a friend to receive my OBC. Still arguing with them, regarding promises made, that they are not fulfilling. They are less courteous, if use an agent to book your res.
Happy2cruise Posted October 30, 2013 #5 Share Posted October 30, 2013 We bought future passages on our first Celebrity cruise last March. Tried using it when booking another cruise for this March and was told "it was not eligible". Really surprised because we specifically asked this at purchase and was told "no problem using for any cruise". Guess we were just use to Princess future cruise program where it can be used for any and all cruises...no exceptions. While we will sail Celebrity again, we would definitely not be purchasing any future passages....to much hassle:D
gdpups Posted October 30, 2013 #6 Share Posted October 30, 2013 I won't be purchasing more in the future, too many restrictions now. I can find sales that give better perks.

Captain's Club is much more knowlegable about the Passages Program. Were you trying to combine the Passages OBC with another Celebrity promotion for the cruise you were looking at this March? The old Open Passages do not let you combine Celebrity offers, you have to pick which one you like best:) They may have let you keep the low deposit but you might have to give up the OBC for the drink pkg for example. The only thing that I know Passages is "not elegible" for is the Celebrity Expedition.
cle-guy Posted October 30, 2013 #8 Share Posted October 30, 2013 I've never really looked at open passages, having heard it's somewhat restrictive on promotions. So I finally found the form and read it. The rules are actually quite simple, and not drawn out, printed on the front of the application form. Says only 1 OBC of any kind may be applied to a stateroom (not 1 per passenger), says not combinable with certain discount fares or with any other promotional offer. Never understand why people expect multiple discounts and promotions. Pick 1 and live with the decision. All promotions come with restrictions, and aren't really intended to benefit the cruiser, its REALLY geared to benefit the cruise line and its shareholders by filling cabins. Christine Frances Posted October 30, 2013 #9 Share Posted October 30, 2013 I won't be purchasing more in the future, too many restrictions now. I can find sales that give better perks. Because of the low deposit ($100) we always have a couple of Open Passages. That way if a neat itinerary comes up, usually over a year out, we don't have to put $900 down as a deposit. If a better promo comes after booking, we swap out the OBC for the promo and keep our prized cabin and MDR seating time. It's even better now that you can combine up to 2 offers. We will buy more in Jan:D
