Big2Little4me Posted October 30, 2013 #1 Share Posted October 30, 2013 Has some expenses come up and won't have as much $$ as I want to put on my S&S card. Any idea what the minimum for 2 adults is, or what is the lowest amount you've put on. I've already paid for my gratuities and haven't booked any excursions. Thanks

Thanks I dont think there is a minimum - I put cash on for both my cruises and started out with just 30.00 - i put more on throughout the cruise but my initial deposit was minimal

Thanks Not sure I understand your question. Not trying to be noisy, but are you concerned about your credit card limit? You can always use a cash deposit for your Sign and Sail. My guess is that $500.00 would be more than sufficient. Stay out of the spa, casino, pay restaurants, etc. and you should have more than enough. StrangeBrew Posted October 30, 2013 #4 Share Posted October 30, 2013 We usually put 400 and the amount of the gratuity for both , The only way I will go through that is if I decide to buy another watch , I like watches ,, lol You can always add more , I would add what you feel comfortable with and what you do not use get back when you close out the last night . USNUZULOOSE Posted October 30, 2013 #5 Share Posted October 30, 2013 We paid for our gratuities up front. We got soda cards and bought some stuff from the store. We only had a total of 142.00 at the end of our cruise. But if you don't go beyond what you have paid there won't be anything to owe.
Stacy_C Posted October 30, 2013 #6 Share Posted October 30, 2013 We have ended most of our cruises with a $0 balance. We don't drink or gamble (yeah, Carnival probably hates us). The souvenirs in the gift shops do not appeal to us at all. So, that knocks out the 3 biggest temptations (alcohol, gambling and shopping) and that does make it easier to keep costs down. Our motto onboard is "If it ain't free, it ain't for me!" lol.

Sparky2 Posted October 30, 2013 #9 Share Posted October 30, 2013 How do you pay for your gratuities ahead of time? Call whoever you booked with (PVP or TA) and they can do it for you. I think you can also go into Manage My Cruise and pay it through there. Edit - I just went in to Manage My Cruise and cannot find any place to add the gratuities. Your best bet is to call. firsttimer2012 Posted October 30, 2013 #11 Share Posted October 30, 2013 There is no set amount, I just got off of a ship a couple of weeks ago and we just put down 30.00 and they were fine with that
bride123105 Posted October 30, 2013 #12 Share Posted October 30, 2013 One cruise I had with major price drops I left with a check because we didn't spend much of our onboard credit.

I am using cash because I don't have a credit card and I don't want to have a set amount held on my debit card in case I need it.. I have saved up cash so I can have a few adult beverages while on board. I just wanted to make sure what I have saved is enough now. And from what everyone is posting it will be just fine. LRene Posted October 31, 2013 #15 Share Posted October 31, 2013 $0.00. Early Saver OBC was more than we spent so we cashed it out in the casino and had a zero balance. Wish I could do that every time. :)

I can't seem to resist ;) We usually come out with a very small balance, and we just attach our debit before sailing. They didn't charge anything until we got off the ship this last time. No holds at all. On RCCL last year there were holds, but they came off within like a week.
