When Are Princess Advanced Fare Prices Typically At Their Lowest?

If you buy your cruise prior to "final payment" time, and your cruise price drops, Princess or your travel agent will usually pass those savings on to you....but, it does not happen automatically. You will need to watch for those price drops and then ask for them.

So.....buy your cruise with FCCs (presuming that you have some purchased on previous cruises) and then your deposit if only $100 each.

Go to the Princess site and sign in

Go the personalizer area

Sign up for standby cruises

You can check off as many ports as you want

then you have to select how far in advance...that is limited so...

I did 3 to 5 weeks

I think my husband did 1 to 3 weeks so we would get more options

We get an email about once a month with some very good deals

We are leaving Thursday for the first time taking advantage of it.

It was very easy. We got the email last Thursday. I called and they gave me a 2 hour hold on a cabin. That was enough for me to check if I could get reasonable flights.

I could so called them right back to firm up. Got a confirmed balcony assignment and early dining.

An hour later....I printed off our boarding passes and luggage tags...

Pretty amazing....

All good and well if you ever get notified. We haven't. Not ever. And I do check from time to time to be sure that it's checked.

And see what the problem is.

My husband and I both get regular emails with offers.

I did check off 4 ports though. Perhaps that helped.

I get them regularly. Last two were on 10/24 and on 10/31.

Maybe with the number of cruises you have booked Princess has their computer saying there is no need to send them to you.

I tend to agree with you Bill. They've got me and they know that. But there always could be room for one more. Like the teeny one we just booked for Dec. 22nd, only one day after getting off the Crown.

We get deals every week but it may be because we live in Florida so air fare doesn't have to be part of the equation . We can't afford to take advantage of them right now because of our upcoming Alaskan cruise.

We had trouble for years getting on their e-mail list of "deals". Someone at Princess finally admitted it was because "we cruise TOO often". They didn't want to annoy us by sending us e-mails. We assured them we wanted to be annoyed and have received them every since! ;) We're just about to the point where we won't cruise unless it's a "screamin'" deal. Fortunately we see plenty of great deals.

This question comes up often. There is no answer. Prices are adjusted DAILY based on complicated yield management algorithms. Buy when the price works for you and watch for price drops if your fare permits.

Exactly. IF you want to cruise on an itinerary that happens often (like Caribbean ones) and is during a non-holiday time, then it's best to wait until after final payment time for the best price. You need to be flexible in cabin location if you go with this plan and monitor the capacity before booking.
