Steakhouse on the Liberty

Does anyone know if you can take the remains of the wine bottle back to your cabin after first night dinner in the steakhouse? My wife usually only has one glass and I am not a wine drinker. Thanks

Leftover wine? What's that?

Kidding. I've read before that they will cork it back up for you to take back to your room

I sailed on the Liberty two weeks ago with my best friend and husband. We dined in the Steakhouse on embarkation day. We made reservations for the first night since you receive a free bottle of wine for the table if you dine the first night. WE LOVED THE STEAKHOUSE. The food was amazing, our server Matt was amazing, and our sommelier Marco'Polo was amazing. I highly recommend making a reservation for the first day!

If you ask the headwaiter very often they can make creme brulee for another night.

I don't think I need to know that!! :p

Yes, or you can have them deliver it to the MDR so it's there the next night. I always purchase a wine package and redeem two bottles in the MDR the first night - one red and one white. That way, whatever I decide I want to eat, there will already be a bottle waiting for me.

Since I"m sailing from San Juan, I have the ability to carry-on a bottle more than once (at check-in, then leave the ship to do more exploring and bring another bottle back on). Plus the freebie in the steakhouse, plus I'm supposed to be receiving a premium gift from the casino which probably includes a bottle, I'm not sure I'll need a wine package. I mean, I am sailing solo, so that would be NINE bottles for an 8 night cruise. Not sure even I can drink that much.

I can always save the coupons from the wine package, assuming I'll be sailing again before too long (and I suspect I will). ;)

That will nice as well. Though I'm really the only wine drinker in our group, so it'll be up to me to drink the bottle (not all that night;)) Have yet to find a Chardonnay that I like so I guess I won't even try that if I already hear it isn't great.

Mostly a red wine kinda gal anyway. Anyone know what kind of red it is? Cabernet? Pinot Noir? Blend?

We have sailed Liberty twice, both times 7 day itins and ate at steakhouse on first night both times. It's a great way to go. MDR is usually out of sync on the first night while everyone learns their assignments, and the steakhouse isn't busy, which is why they give you the free wine. Which, to answer your question, is a perfectly serviceable Chilean Merlot. We usually get beef dishes (filet, lamb) and it pairs up just fine.

To answer your other question, I usually wear dark, "dressy" jeans, but this is coupled with black dress shoes and some kind of a button-down shirt and sportcoat, for sort of a "casual-elegant" type look that makes more sense on the first night of a cruise anyway. No problems encountered.

Thanks for the replies folks, re the wine, with the two bottles we are allowed to take on board plus the remainder of the "freebie" on the first night, my wife should be in good shape : ) I will be settling for ice cold beer.

My waiter on the Liberty was able to get me bitter and blanc, with one day notice, on the last night. Of course he ribbed me about missing it on the night it was served. :p

You can take it with you. In our case we had the chardonnay last month and thought it was undrinkable and left it there.

Friends we were sailing with had the red and liked it.

Oh no! My two favorites! And now you're telling me I can get then whenever I want (with a little advance notice)!?!?! Good thing I always take the stairs. I'll have to run up them this cruise instead of just walking up. :p

Thanks Kwagmyre. DH has some casual dress shoes and I'm sure I can find him some dark jeans with a button down. My hope is once he has eaten at the steakhouse he'll think it was worth it to trade his standard attire in for a few hours ;)

Our cruise is still a long way off, but I'm already looking forward to that surf and turg

The only time I ate in a steakhouse, I had the gigantic Porterhouse, which is no longer on the menu.

I think I'll try the Surf & Turf on Saturday night. And the red wine.

Thanks for all the info folks and thanks to Nadersmom for allowing me to jump in here! :D

Was hoping that when they increased steakhouse price from 30 to 35 in past year that would allow porterhouse to return but not to be.
