Waterlily777 Posted November 4, 2013 #1 Share Posted November 4, 2013 I have never sailed in a cabin on S-class ships where there was one of the "flying buttress" support beams between my cabin and the adjacent cabin. I am thinking of booking two A1 cabins on Deck 11 (Penthouse Deck) of the Reflection. The cabins have the large beam in between them, and it would seem to me that the beam blocks access between the cabins on that deck. Does anyone have a closer photograph of the beam between two cabins? Have you cruised with one of these beams between you and an adjacent cabin? How does this affect the easy access between cabins? It is hard to tell from the photo below exactly what would happen in this situation. The photo below is the best image that I have. You can click on the to bring it to the full size of your screen, and then click once more to further enlarge the photo, but I still can't tell if the beam fully blocks the passageway between the two cabins. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/a/a5/Celebrity_REFLECTION_by_Moehre1992.jpg Credit for this photograph goes to Moehre1992 on Wikimedia. I greatly appreciate any information or help that anyone can offer.
Hart10 Posted November 4, 2013 #2 Share Posted November 4, 2013 Hi sorry I don't have a picture. If you are flexible yeasty you can between cabins. There is a cut out you gave to step over and due to the arm you have to duck at the sometime. My sister had this beside her kids and it not it he best but it worked! Camera-Guy Posted November 4, 2013 #3 Share Posted November 4, 2013 There is space to get from one cabin to the other. I will see if I have any pictures ... I assume you are on deck 10?

Actually, it's deck 11 on the Reflection that I am considering. The same situation on other S-class ships would probably be on deck 10. Thanks for looking for the photos!! Much appreciated! Sent using the Cruise Critic forums app Thanks very much for the description. Kind of what I was afraid of. I am short, so the ducking would be better than the stepping over, probably, The kids should be fine though! They'll probably think it is fun. I hope the balcony is high enough that there is no danger if kids try to clamber over the beam.

boogs Posted November 5, 2013 #7 Share Posted November 5, 2013 Here is what the beams look like in close up. If the partitions open up, you will still have to squirm around the beam to get from one balcony to the other.

I, on the other hand, will just embarrass myself, so if anyone wants to see me, they are going to have to come over to MY balcony, or else I will be visiting them via the front door! Thanks again everyone :D.
themutis Posted November 5, 2013 #9 Share Posted November 5, 2013 I was also concerned about the support beams... and while it was there, it really didn't bother us (Reflection - Aqua Spa Cabin 2147)

The OP, on the other hand, will have to do a slanted limbo dance to get to the other balcony. :D
