Have an early flight from MIA and would appreciate suggestions for hotel near airport with shuttle also somewhere to eat close by. Many thanks.

There is a hotel that is actually inside the airport, I'm not sure what hotel chain it is affiliated with though. Most of the major chains are located near the airport. The Sheraton Miami Airport is pretty close with shuttle service to the terminal, food places would be a short cab ride away. There are a couple of Hilton brand hotels in the Blue Lgoon area. Marriott has a few hotels (Courtyard, Residence Inn, and a full service Marriott) that are located on the south side of the airport. There are plenty of others all around the airport.

We've stayed at the Homewood Suites Blue Lagoon and walked 5 minutes to the local strip mall (grocery, drug, & liquor stores, plus Starbucks, fast food and 3 dining options) for dinner. The Hampton Inn is closer to the mall, the airport Hilton is a little farther away. Sofitel is also in the area. Nice area for being so close to MIA and the Homewood also offers a nice pool/hot-tub area and a "free" manager's reception (Mon-Thurs) afternoons.

 

The Miami Airport hotel - located inside MIA - does not have a pool and only limited dining options. Good luck! :)

I have stayed at Hilton Garden Inn Miami Airport west as they offer free shuttle to airport and have a restaurant and bar in the hotel.

I'd too would look at the Blue Lagoon area hotels. You can find less expensive "airport hotels", but be careful as you could end up in a nasty place or be out in the boon docks.
