Nude Beach- Orient Beach

My husband and I are nudists and want to take advantage of Orient Beach for the one opportunity we will have on our cruise.

How would be go about getting there other than the small amount of time the ship allows, and does it cost to use the beach area?

It's possible your cruise ship might have an excursion.

You can google "Orient beach" and you'll find quite a bit of info.

Since this is your first post, I do have to consider a windup.

There is a nudist beach next to Orient Beach. Orient Beach is 'clothing optional' and most people we saw on Orient Beach had on bathing suits (as do DH and I). Some of the women were topless. the few who were nude were walking along the water's edge and were walking from or to the nudist beach.

You can probably take a cab to Orient Beach. I am not sure exactly where the nudist section in relationship to where the cab will drop you off. you will probably have to ask the cab driver.

As previous poster said, check with the Port of Call forums for more specific information. At the main page for the boards, look for ports of call, then click on caribbean, the look for St. Maarten.

Just ask the cab driver to take you to the nude beach at Orient Beach, and also arrange a time and place for him to pick you up.

Lots more info on the St. Martin board here.

And the beach is free, but you have to pay if you want a lounger and/or umbrella

It's easy to get a cab to and from Orient Beach. There's no need to prearrange a pickup time--just be sure to give yourself enough time to get back to the ship. The nude section of the beach is at the far end toward the right. A friend of ours stays there every year for Thanksgiving. We were able to visit him on one cruise. It was great to be able to view more of the property and to see what his cottage looked like.

Typically there are cabs (minivans) waiting outside the ship terminal waiting to take a loads to the beaches. Seems like it was $20 a couple the last time we went. Lots of people are going to Orient, so there will be plenty of passengers to fill up the van. I want to say it is about a 45 minute trip. Tell the driver you want to go to the Club Orient part of the beach, he will know where to drop you off and pick you up. I think it is the last drop off point of the beach, which is right next to the Club Orient nude resort. You can rent, chairs and umbrellas from Club Orient. Lots of good food at Orient Beach, but it is very expensive, especially in the French restaurants. $20 Hambugers. There are some cheaper restaurants that taste pretty good, but be prepaired.

Hmmmm. I've never heard the name "cottage" used for that body part before. :D

my wife and I went to Orient Beach while on a Celebrity cruise in April of this year - we just caught a cab and had no problems:

cab fare about $15-20 each way i think

loungers about $10 each

drinks about $5 each

watching old guys prance up and down the beach naked - priceless.

Easy to just tell a cab that you want to go to Orient and they'll take you. If they drop you off where they drop most people off, you will walk to the right for the nudist section.

You can't miss it, they have a big sign to let you know where it's at:

What difference does it make what other people look like? Unless, of course, you are there only to look at naked people and not to enjoy the freedom of being naked. When I used to frequent a nearby nude beach during my college days, we called those people "perverts".
