MellowJello Posted November 6, 2013 #1 Share Posted November 6, 2013 (edited) I realize this is a hot button issue, so if you don't have anything nice to say, please refrain. (Thanks!) Neither my fiance or I smoke cigarettes, however, my fiance enjoys a nice cigar occasionally and would like the option to smoke it on our balcony. I've read the terms and conditions on the travel notes that I printed with my boarding pass, but I'm still a little confused. We have a balcony room, not a suite. Here is what is stated: "All Spa suites and staterooms, inclusive of the balconies, are an entirely smoke-free environment. Effective December 1, 2011, smoking will be prohibited in all guest staterooms. Guests in balcony staterooms may smoke (including cigars) outside on their balcony. Guests who smoke in their stateroom will be assessed a $250 stateroom refreshing fee." I'm a little confused about the "... staterooms, inclusive of the balconies, are an entirely smoke-free environment... Guests in balcony staterooms may smoke (including cigars) outside on their balcony."--so is it allowed or not? And what about the $250 fee? If he smokes a cigar on the balcony with the stateroom door shut, will we be charged a $250 fee for that? If you can clear up the confusion, I'd appreciate it! Thanks! You can not smoke in Spa Suites and (I assume) spa staterooms are smoke free including the balcony. you can not smoke is SPA suites and staterooms (even on the balcony) All other balconies, you can smoke. Thank you! This is our first cruise and I'm not familiar with all of the types of rooms. I didn't realize there was a "spa stateroom". Thank you! KenMo Posted November 6, 2013 #4 Share Posted November 6, 2013 There are no Cloud 9 Spa staterooms on Triumph. No worries...he can smoke cigars on the balcony. Enjoy your cruise!!
Twinzma Posted November 6, 2013 #5 Share Posted November 6, 2013 Ask your steward for an ashtray as soon as you board, it may take them some time to get one to you. Also be forewarned it will be full of water so that the ashes don't blow everywhere, at least that's what my room steward did.
overthehillcruiser Posted November 6, 2013 #6 Share Posted November 6, 2013 We were on the Triumph in late Oct and had a person smoking a cigar below and forward of us , so I asked guest services, and they said it was not allowed and promptly stopped him. In the Fun Times, or whatever you call it, it did state that cigars and pipes were only permitted in one of the lounges..I believe this is a very new rule, and when you read it , it is a little misleading, but if it were not true I don't believe guest services would have sent security to his cabin and stopped him..The latest update I can find on CCL website is June of 2011. If someone has some other info, please post it.I can certainly understand how smokers feel, but if you do not smoke ,cigar smoke ,especially, is very offending.Royal Caribbean recently banned all balcony smoking, and since they are in Galveston full time now, we will just sail with them.I am not attempting to offend anyone with this reply, and I know there are two sides to the issue. overthehillcruiser Posted November 6, 2013 #9 Share Posted November 6, 2013 I am totally confused as I called CCL guest care and they said you can smoke cigars on the balcony and guest services on the Triumph says you cannot, so to answer your question, I don't have a clue now .. Is that a ship by ship policy? It just takes 1 rude smoker to have all the rest of us clumped together like we all do it.
