wallybone Posted November 7, 2013 #1 Share Posted November 7, 2013 Does carnival have a reduce price for children under 4 years of age? Have neice with child 3 want to cruise wanting to let her know if they have to pay full price for that child.
pamrose228 Posted November 7, 2013 #2 Share Posted November 7, 2013 If said child is the second one in the cabin, full price. If third or fourth reduced rate. Child eats, uses facilities of course they have to pay.
njmomof2 Posted November 7, 2013 #3 Share Posted November 7, 2013 Unless the cruise line is offering some sort of "kids sail free" or "kids sail reduced" promotion, then children are charged the same as any other sailing guest...as a occupant of a cabin. If your niece is sailing in a cabin that holds 3 or more, then a child would be priced as the third/fourth occupant in the cabin, and that *usually* means a lower price. Some times, cruises are very popular and you will find that third/fourth passenger pricing is almost the same as the first/second full paying passenger rate. Some lines always have kids sail free, others have reduced rates for under a certain age. But I believe Carnival, unless there is a special promotion, prices everyone according to how many are in the cabin.
cruizinisthebest Posted November 7, 2013 #4 Share Posted November 7, 2013 Child pays full price. Any 3rd or 4th passenger in a cabin gets a reduced rate. There are no reduced rates for kids of any age.
firstcruiseever Posted November 7, 2013 #5 Share Posted November 7, 2013 It is reduced, but not free. Honestly the "kids sail free" deal is not that good on other ships. Norwegian is doing that promotion right now, but all they did was hike up the price of the first two passengers to make up for the price of the third and fourth. Not worth it. MSC used to have kids sail free too, I don't know if they still do it, but they have an AWFUL kids program so its not really worth it anyhow. purplemusik Posted November 7, 2013 #6 Share Posted November 7, 2013 Same price! Even for babies!
Colorado Kat Posted November 7, 2013 #7 Share Posted November 7, 2013 Kids are same price. For an example of 3rd/4th passenger prices, in Jan 2014 3 of us are sailing the Carnival Dream. First 2 people are $579. Third is $189. All adults.
RuthlessBoss Posted November 8, 2013 #8 Share Posted November 8, 2013 Carnival does not need to reduce, as we all know, the ships can be filled even with children being charged. Other cruise lines do it as an enticement to get the parents to sail on their ships that don't have the reputation of being so family oriented. Tapi Posted November 8, 2013 #9 Share Posted November 8, 2013 (edited) Honestly the "kids sail free" deal is not that good on other ships. Norwegian is doing that promotion right now, but all they did was hike up the price of the first two passengers to make up for the price of the third and fourth. Not worth it. Sometimes the kids reduced rates can be substantial. Last summer, we chose to sail Holland America in big part because they had a kids promotion. Our 2 kids sailed basically for port taxes. That brought the grand total for our family of 4 to almost $1,000 less than Carnival, even though Holland was charging more for the 1st and 2nd person. Other cruise lines do it as an enticement to get the parents to sail on their ships that don't have the reputation of being so family oriented. That's the feeling we got on this cruise. Holland is definitely not as family oriented as Carnival, so I think the promotion was a way to fill up 3rd/4th berths that would normally sail empty. And there were many families on our sailing, so I guess the promotion did work. Edited November 8, 2013 by Tapi
PegNRay Posted November 8, 2013 #10 Share Posted November 8, 2013 Carnival doesn't automatically add gratuities for children under two. That's the only break I have encountered.

It CAN be a good deal- however- When those Sales come out quads go so so fast you have to be right on top of the release. Disney in partiCular doesn't usually mark up the first 2 people but only releases Mostly tripleS, therefore only one free in the cabin. tkportersat Posted November 8, 2013 #12 Share Posted November 8, 2013 Sadly no, but the price for 3rd/4th person in a cabin is slightly less. If they take excursions than the child might be free, so that is something they can look for. Does carnival have a reduce price for children under 4 years of age? Waterloomarc Posted November 8, 2013 #13 Share Posted November 8, 2013 And they pay the same taxes/fees as any other also. So although the 3/4th fare itself is reduced the taxes are not. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
