Patsy Flower Posted November 7, 2013 #1 Share Posted November 7, 2013 Hello, I hope someone can help. I have noticed that Royal Princess have Deluxe Balcony Staterooms. If one of these is offered for the same price as a standard balcony stateroom is it a good deal or are these staterooms in a less desirable location? What does anyone consider a good location on this ship? We are thinking of going mid forward as previous posters have stated the lack of mid ship staircase and lifts is an issue. Are any decks considered to be better than others? Thank you in advance for any help. I find this site an excellent source of help and information. briananddenise Posted November 7, 2013 #2 Share Posted November 7, 2013 We chooses decks that have stateroom above them. Cuts down on the noise. If you get motion sickness easily try to get as close to the center of the ship as you can.
pcsunlover Posted November 7, 2013 #3 Share Posted November 7, 2013 We're sailing on the Royal next spring. We chose a mid-aft balcony cabin on the Baja deck because I have a tendency to get seasick. It looks convenient to the laundryroom and is midway between the aft and midship elevators. We thought about getting a deluxe balcony because of the loveseat, but then we saw that we would lose the 2 desk drawers that the regular balcony cabin has. Since we don't spend a whole lot of time in our cabin, we thought the drawers would be more useful.
Firststatecruiser Posted November 7, 2013 #4 Share Posted November 7, 2013 We were in a deluxe balcony on deck 8, mid ship. We had an angled balcony which is a bit larger. It is considered"obstructed", but there was no real obstruction. We loved it! I would book the same type of cabin, but closer to a staircase so that you can run down to 5,6,and 7 where all the activities are. Otherwise, just take an elevator. It is not a major hardship. BTW, the little couch is nice to have.

Are any decks considered to be better than others? The deluxe staterooms seem to be scattered between regular staterooms and mini suites, so they are not in a less (or more) desirable location. While there is no mid ship staircase, there are 6 mid-ship lifts. Generally, those decks that have cabins above and below are quieter, if that is a concern.
