PCWalton1 Posted November 8, 2013 #1 Share Posted November 8, 2013 Got the following email TWICE today. Was still planning to get there 11-11:30 am. I want my lunch. We are contacting you with important information regarding your upcoming sailing on the Legend of the Seas. The ship will be arriving to Port Everglades on November 12th from a season cruising abroad. This means there will be a required U.S. Coast Guard inspection, full crew immigration, and full guest immigration. Because of this, check-in will take place between 12:30 PM and 3:30 PM as published in your cruise documents. Please do not arrive at the cruise terminal prior to 12:30 PM. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation, and look forward to welcoming you onboard. Bill
cruisingator2 Posted November 8, 2013 #2 Share Posted November 8, 2013 We had this situation several years ago on the NV out of FLL. It was the first cruise after the ship returned from her season in Europe. Boarding was delayed. All crew has to go through immigration and there was a Coast Guard inspection. Add to that many crew left the ship that day and many new crew members joined. I think boarding started somewhere around 1:00 and the crew was whipped from a long day. PhoenixCruiser Posted November 8, 2013 #3 Share Posted November 8, 2013 Agree with cruisingator2. You can show up early but just be prepared to wait, and perhaps for a long time, without food or beverages, or even a comfortable area to pass the time. Find a good local restaurant to enjoy and take your time! ###
Eng23 Posted November 8, 2013 #4 Share Posted November 8, 2013 This might be the one time this kind of email should be taken seriously. In this situation there very well could be delays as passengers and crew must clear Customs and Immigration. I don't think this is the email that goes out to everyone just before their cruise to try and space passenger arrivals at the terminal.

We had to stay at our Hotel until the driver got approval to come to the port. We ended up with boarding starting at 2:00PM. As I recall on one event the passengers getting off were all fingerprinted for some strange reason. That takes time. No, we never learned why they did that.
