ksqueak Posted November 8, 2013 #1 Share Posted November 8, 2013 I embark in Quebec city on a Saturday but we don't sail until Sunday evening. Can we embark anytime after 11.30? In other words, can I arrive at 7pm with no problems? When is the muster drill? Sunday late afternoon? Once I'm on the ship on Saturday, can we then go off and explore? I've never experienced this situation before so any help is appreciated. I'm traveling with a a 14 year old and this is their first cruise and I'd at least like to look like I know what I'm doing :-)
RuthC Posted November 8, 2013 #2 Share Posted November 8, 2013 If I wanted to board some time outside of customary hours, I would let HAL know when I was arriving, so that the people at the port were prepared to take care of me. The people who do the check-in will expect to go home at some point, and security would have to be aware to let you board and check in at the Front Desk. That can be done, and QC may have plans already in place, but just need to know who to expect, and approximately when. Once on board you are free to come and go, so long as you are on board in time for muster. That would be the second day, about 45-60 minutes before sail-away. sppunk Posted November 8, 2013 #3 Share Posted November 8, 2013 We sailed from Quebec City in September and saw quite a few people boarding past 11 p.m. - we were down with the crew talking and checking the Internet and actually had a group come through around 2 a.m. No problems whatsoever, might want to let HAL know in advance just to be safe but it won't be an issue.
