flamomo Posted November 11, 2013 #1 Share Posted November 11, 2013 I feel it is necessary say a huge thank you to Princess for the generous "Good Will" compensation that was given to all passengers on the Crown Princess, when our transatlantic itinerary was pretty much decimated due to the storm that was approaching the British Isles when we were due to depart from Southampton on October 26th. Instead we were "stuck" sitting in port in Southampton for 2 1/2 days until the storm and the worst of its effects passed, and the ports of Vigo, Le Havre, and Ponta Delgada were cancelled. Of course, many of us were extremely disappointed to be missing either Normandy or Paris, as that was to be the highlight of the cruise for us. The only ports we got to visit on this 14 day cruise were Lisbon and Bermuda. I very much appreciated our Captain, Tony Yeomans', diligence in keeping us well informed and providing explainations for the reasoning behind the necessary changes. That went a long way toward keeping our spirits up and able to enjoy our time onboard. In the end, I can honestly say that I really enjoyed the cruise despite the changes that occurred. So, thank you, Princess, for how you treat your passengers.
Shogun Posted November 11, 2013 #2 Share Posted November 11, 2013 Hi There Princess has been getting more generous with passengers affected by weather etc. Captain Tony is one of the best Captains around been lucky to spend time with him, met up with him on the Royal pre view which was nice. yours Shogun
skf Posted November 11, 2013 #3 Share Posted November 11, 2013 Flamomo...glad to see you are pleased, & the Captain deserves credit for keeping you updated. We were stuck by bad weather in Dublin on Crown & the only announcements by Captain Nash were that we would get going soon. If we had been told that we'd be there 2 days we could have spent more time in town. Steve
san diego sue Posted November 11, 2013 #4 Share Posted November 11, 2013 Since you were in Southampton for two days, did Princess arrange any ship excursions you could take?
flamomo Posted November 12, 2013 Author #5 Share Posted November 12, 2013 No excursions, but a free shuttle bus into Southampton's shopping district was provided by Princess. So many passengers took advantage of it that there was a huge jam up for security line in the terminal when we returned to the ship. Some people were stuck waiting in line for a couple of hours. Of course that was not Princess' fault. It was an issue because port security had only one line and one Xray machine working at first.
