Just wondering what people think of the Freeport Bahamas for a week vacation after out cruise out of Ft Lauderdale ? Never been to the Bahamas except nassau for a day trip on a cruise a few years ago.there is a new Hotel opening called Memories Grand Bahama Beach Casino. Should be open any day now. Any info or advice on this island for a vacation in early Febuary is much appreciated .Thanks

I've stayed on Grand Bahama Island for a week twice. Once in a private home that we rented through vrbo, and once staying at The Pelican Bay Hotel near the Port Lucaya marketplace. We enjoyed both weeks there.

We loved having the privacy the of the house and it was right on the beach was very calm and peaceful. And we rented a car so it was convenient to town however it was about a 40 minute drive to the marketplace.

The Pelican Bay was a nice hotel right next to the marketplace and across from casino so we loved the convenience of that. It is on Bayside but had access via water taxi to Taino beach.

Also on the island there multiple opportunities for snorkeling scuba diving fishing as well as a nature preserve that you can go to and hike or take tours etc.

One of our weeks there was in August and of course the weather was perfect, the other was the week between Christmas and New Years and surprisingly the weather was still warm enough that time on beach /in water was still enjoyable. hopefully in February you'd be ok.

Hope that helps!
