4,000? I don't think so. Everything I've read is 3,600 passengers. And that's with every allowable berth booked, including 3rd and 4th passengers. If there aren't many kids onboard, that means it's not sailing at capacity with many 3rd and 4th berths not booked. All or almost all the cabins might be booked but not all the allowable berths.

Double occupancy/max occupancy: 3600 / 4360

So about 10:15 the Princess rep opens the flood gates and tells everyone to have their Preferred Boarding Passes ready. We had already been handed the 'I promise I'm not sick' forms and the check-in for Preferred went real quick. Now we are sitting in a little area off to the side of the main hall, and near the back, waiting for the embarkation to begin, maybe in the next hour?

Sorry Pam;

Totally stuffed, the Royal can hold over 4K.

Dave, Keep up the ship's photos and food porn. Sounds like you are having a great cruise so far!

(Note: Original information in 2012 showed the Royal with 1,800 cabins and 3,600 capacity with double occupancy. It also listed maximum capacity at 4,428. As constructed, the Royal has 1,780 cabins, so with double occupancy her capacity would be 3,560. With the 780 additional/upper berths she could hold 4,340 passengers. Dave hasn't seen many children so there might not be many cabins with more than 2 passengers. You would need to know how many single occupancy cabins there are such as Dave's to know if there are unsold cabins.)

Both the breakfast and sunrise look great. Enjoy your day. If you love omelettes, try the fresh made omelettes station delicious and quick.

We also loved the fresh made waffles that are available in the pastry shoppe. :)

Really like the new plates in the HC! So pretty! They remind a bit of the pottery I collect from Barbados - the glaze matches the color of the water in the harbor...:)

Dave - I have a strong interest in seeing the main DR menus for the week. Any chance you might collect those or just take a snap of the mains each evening?

Hi Retiring Cajun - would you be looking for the closed thread "Everything Royal Princess" that Dave started in January?

I just have to add that the thread closed on 7/11/13, every number in that date being a prime number. Thanks, Dave.

Just back in to the hotel from watching all five ships leave from the port. The wind was so brisk coming in off of the ocean they were using tugs to 'assist'.

It rained for a couple of hours this afternoon, sort of a nice drenching, and I camped out at the hotel and Starbucks across the street until it passed. I think that was the first time I can recall actually being here in Fort Lauderdale and it raining, so I guess I've been lucky in that aspect.

Tomorrow, weather permitting, I do plan on walking down to watch Royal Princess arrive. I did the same this morning for Crown Princess and it was pretty amazing.

I'll most definitely post something as well tomorrow, what's going on during embarkation, etc., and try to get more pictures on line via Tapatalk if it cooperates.

THANK YOU for all of your amazing support, kind words, enthusiasm, and friendship. It's been, without a doubt, the single most remarkable experience I've ever had on Cruise Critic.

And for those of you on the 12/1 and 12/8 sailings, see you on Royal Princess!!!

Hi David! Yes, I had the web cam up and watched the departures as well as yours! I'm waiting to hear the "special news" we are ALL waiting for! And don't forget to go see James at the Video Counter and pick up your video of the Maiden Sail Away!! (I already paid for it, so don't let them try to charge you again!!)

I don't want this to come across the wrong way, although it probably will, but has Princess done nothing special for you??? No cabin upgrade, no extra OBC, no free specialty dinner??? Nothing? I know you started the Everything thread out of your own interest for RP and we all hopped on because of our own interest, but nothing? Nothing? Let me simply say that I am disappointed, but you are such a gentleman that I know you will never say.

And they are great! When I walked over there from Crooners (a short walk), ordered 6 of them, and one of the waiters from Crooners came over with my bottle of wine and poured me a glass of wine to enjoy with my Oysters. Now THAT'S service!!!!!

Alright, Princess... we know you monitor the threads. You know who David is, as he has posted a picture of his Platinum room card.

Don't let us down... Do a little nice for our friend, David! :)

My final destination after a round of 'eats' was my lovely Inside stateroom, C406.

I know that there are many who were very enthusiastic about the chances of me getting an upgrade, but it was not to be.

The sideways Inside cabin is wonderful and I absolutely love the layout, the storage, and the bathroom, even with the toilet paper thingy mounted where it is. No problem.

I'm sitting in Crooners and someone just took a misstep near the Olive Piano and hit the floor face first. He's holding a napkin over this face and they've called for the doctor.

Emergency Drill is at 3:15 and my station is the Vista Lounge. Yeah.

Then Sail Away.

I'll keep posting as long as I can.

I'm so glad that I booked Royal Princess for two weeks. :D

Well, needless to say that I and many others are very disappointed that Princess didn't step up to the plate for YOU after all you did for them with your free advertising on CC. I thought it would be worth at least a deluxe balcony!!

I didn't see anyone take a "trip" near the piano, but sure did see some new "dance steps" as they passed by and nearly tripped! I agree that they need to put some decorative ropes and posts around that area!

I'll be following along this thread to hear your reports, Dave. Have a happy voyage!
